I'd think anyone coming in as CEO would be asking that question, what's more I would think if it was the likes of Dave Baldwin he would get in touch with Gordon Gibb with regards the situation of buying the ground back at some point.
It certainly won't happen as long as Julian has ties with the club, for reasons that have been well documented and debated on here.

The penny seems to have dropped for MCCall then. In today's T&A he says he must stop tinkering and changing formations going forward. I knew he read this forum!

 

Any CEO should come with a game plan. Any manager is at risk of losing their job regardless of who they are.
A foolish move would to bring a new manager in who doesnt fit with what the ceo wants. Then you are in a worse situation.

Sorry Stuart my patience is running out after another predictable interview from you.
On the field of play you excelled but managerial wise your tactically clueless with a squad of players that match your ambitions.

 

His post match interview is going to be interesting that is if he doesn't send Kenny Black, that was shocking once again Stuart the buck stops at your door.

 

The owner, the CEO, the Board. And then the manager.

 

Rhodes will have to do as he is told, that will/must come from Rupp.

 

I have no idea what relevance that has to our plight. You are really struggling to come up with a defence or come up with any reason how we are going to turn this around

Isn't building a squad part of the manager's role?

If the squad is poor whose fault is that if it isn't Stuart's? Remember how happy and relaxed he was about it in pre-season?

 

I'd say there's a difference in extending the contract of a player already under contract and re-signing a player after their contract has expired. When you re-sign a player who's contract has expired, its the same thing as signing a free agent from outside the club. Is he 'new to the club'? No. but that's not the point. The real point is, he had a blank canvass for 2 particular spots and chose to sign R'OD and DMH. So it was entirely his call to sign those players instead of bringing in someone else. To my mind, they're both McCall signings. Its entirely his call that they're at the club, he hasn't been saddled with them. R'OD I can understand to a point. He's not great but he's about average for a keeper at this level and we could have done worse given our recruitment performance. The signing of DMH is baffling though.

 

I’m no McCall apologist but how many managers have we brought in, only for them to go, and the same players remain. This is such a weak squad and with the exception of Watt and Staunton, who would come in for the others? Wood is regressing, whether that’s the wingback role I’m not sure.
We don’t even have players that can do the basics for crying out loud. As I said earlier, you could bring any manager into the club and unless he’s got the back up staff then nothing will change.

 

Agree, McCall has got a poor track record of recruiting for us. He got lucky inheriting a strong squad from Parky,

New CEO or not, Rupp needs to act now. I have no faith in McCall being able to turn things around


Personally, I dont think Rupp will act during this season. It's a season of drifting under Rhodes and McCall, hoping that we stay up.

 

Exactly the priority is to get the new CEO in place
What calibre of manager can we hope to attract when the guy doing the interview is leaving and uncertainty about any new managers future hangs in the balance
No one worth his salt will take the job under those conditions
It needs to be announced NOW the new man yes Stuart is failing but not as much as R&R

 

I struggle to accept that McCall was content with the quality of the squad at the start of the season. We're not talking Michael Collins, he's been a manager long enough to comprehend that even without injuries this team would struggle.

So either he's being economical with the facts in order to appease those above him. And they've been forced to operate on a significantly reduced budget (which would explain why a probable high earner like Vaughan wasn't replaced with someone of a similar pedigree). Or he's a very poor judge of the quality of players needed to be at least competitive in this league.

The vast majority of managers universally want as many quality players as they can sign. Because they know that it'll be their head on the block if results are poor. They aren't usually in any job for long enough to think any longer term than one season. Or to concern themselves with the financial future of the club. To hear him say that the signing on loan of a raw, inexperienced 20 year old kid was 'the final piece of the jigsaw' left me bemused and frustrated. If there is significant amounts of the budget left unspent, then he's made a rod for his own back.

 

Just struggle to see how some one else can improve us significantly enough when the squad is as bad as it. Cook, Cowley (could say Pep or Klopp), would still have the same not good enough players.

 

I was referring to the post above which remarked that ‘at least Rahic wasn’t afraid to sack managers’. It was tongue in cheek. Rahic was a disaster.

The principles of his plan were sound - he was just never going to be capable of deploying them correctly.
