someone else has just made a great point on social media.. McCall has handed the whole playing squad a get out of jail free card with his "not aiming for the top 3" comments.

 

It's a stupid comment. A sackable one.

 

He needs lessons in media, someone said on here last week everytime he speaks or does a paper interview a certain line makes you shout stop.

He maybe taking pressure off himself and the players now by saying that but its likely riled a few fans myself included

 

Just imagine how good we’ll all feel once the losses are out of the way and nothing but wins ahead of us.

Sorry Stuart my patience is running out after another predictable interview from you.
On the field of play you excelled but managerial wise your tactically clueless with a squad of players that match your ambitions.

The main positive I see for Stuart is it's still very early days in the season.

Fans can't always see the upswings in form before they happen.

If we could, there wouldn't be any bookies left.

Given the obvious mandate for consolidation that Stuart had, his approach in the summer and this season makes even less sense than I thought. If money was scaled back, and promotion not expected, and the likelihood that we’d need to include our young lads on a reasonably regular basis - why the hell did he bring in Billy Clarke and DMH? Top of his list should’ve been a nasty bastard midfielder who could battle when the chips were down, to give air cover to the younger lads. A Jim O’Brien type. If you know that you’re going to be saddled with Guthre, Novak and Donaldson, don’t plan on the basis of using a 352 system which needs your front two to be mobile and run the channels. Get a couple of wingers who can cross a ball and plan on the basis of keeping your front 2 in and around the opposition box as much as possible.

He’s recruited on the basis of trying to play ‘expansively’ without having the forwards to do it. So we end up going sideways and nowhere, having no goal threat, and being a soft touch when we come under anything resembling pressure.

I think there’ll be 2 worse sides. But only just. This has all the hall marks of a relegation side. Flaky at the back, no bite in midfield, no real leadership, midfielders who want to play but can’t do much with what’s around them and then find themselves exposed because of how we’re trying to play, no threat up front. Forget style - we’re not even functionally sound.

I bet we'll get 8 points or more from the next 5 league games AND progress in the FA Cup. That's about as bold as I'm prepared to be without knowing full well I'm throwing money down the drain...

 

Mansfield sack Coughlan.

He left Rovers to join Mansfield(I thought that was madness but he wanted to be closer to family) last December.

Point is McCall needs to be careful because his results has been poor.

 

They haven't won a game in their first 9.

I don't think they're less ambitious than us.

I'm not surprised he got sacked, particularly given how easily we beat them.

McCall, by ANY metric, isn't performing as badly as Coughlan was

 

The trouble is, the defence with the exception of possibly Woods, Staunton and the lad from Leeds, ARE playing at the top of their level, unable to put 2 let alone 3 good performances together. Their concentration levels are that of a goldfish. We have a keeper who is confident he won’t be dropped. We have one possibly two decent midfielders in Watt and Evans, we have a winger in Ismail that is pushing Joe Riley for the number of appearances in a 2 season spell and DMH who should be filed under the “competition winner” section with Kai Brunker. Up front we have Novak who might get us a few and that’s it.

There aren’t any surprises left in this squad. We know exactly what we’re getting without reinforcements.

 

Until we get the CEO issue sorted I think the manager is the least of our issues. The club has no direction & seems lost under the current setup. The managerial merry go round we’ve seen here either points to very poor choices of managers or bigger problems above. Can’t see many managers succeeding in this environment.

Get an experienced CEO in to sort this mess out and let them make that call & get us moving forward. My concern is that we get this choice right, the manager can be, and should be, worried about after that. Fail & go for the cheap, easy choice (eg Sparks) and I really do fear for us long term.

 

Be prepared to be disappointed over a new CEO. It is shaping up to be 'nearly' just like that elusive striker we were trying to get in this summer.

 

Bronco. What a lot of TOSH. You gave me the old emotional tie routine that is danced out everytime we appoint him. People welcomed it as it is STUART! Football reasons....never mind about that It is STUART!

If I had the inclination I could trawl through all the posts and find that most agreed that McClowns appointment was an appeasement move and that it wasn't based on his record as a manager.

The McClown apologists would be in raptures if it turned out we were bringing him back as the new CEO. He loves the club, he only wants the best...what do you mean he has no experience? It's STUART!

We are a laughing stock and McClown is part of the problem.
