If we can’t have fans in the ground at normal capacity then bin it off and scrap next season as well. Football without fans is totally pointless

It will be easy for me to make my decision on whether to attend when we can - dead easy.
Players give the knee and that's me not going until it stops.

This government has lost any sense of credibility or control over COVID. Its a shambles. Further, mass restrictions to society at large are completely absurd and will cause more harm than they prevent.

I have agreed with you all along mate, hence my family and I deciding not to renew our season tickets. I genuinely hope I am wrong, but cannot see fans being allowed in until early spring

Government has made a total mess of the situation and continues to do so, there policy seems to be to stick a finger in the leaking dam wall and hope that will stop the leak?

The premier league has no interest whatsoever in the football league, if it could i would expect it to break away and form its own league altogether along the lines of a buy in franchise model. Its purely business run and the EFL business model simply hemerrhages money. If you want to know where football is heading Wolves have just signed a player for £35 million, £9 million which goes in agents fees. At the top level football is turning into an elite sport like formula one, a far cry from its beginnings.

Funniest thing is, come the harrogate game, people will be packed into pubs watching it on Sky, rather than outside and socially distanced at VP. Complete joke.

Mr Rupp will have have to follow the lead of plenty of small business owners and use his own personal wealth to keep the club afloat or risk losing all of his initial investment I dare say when he bought the club he was prepared to take the profit it's a two way thing. The club have no assets to loan against so it's all on his reported personal fortune From what I have seen the interest alone on his reported wealth more than covers what the club are projecting to lose with this latest round of restrictions
It's getting close to the time when we find if he has any committment to the club or not

If the government start bailing out loss making entities inside a billion pound industry it's going to be an utter scandal. I really don't understand what these people are on.

How can teams go cap in hand to the tax payer and then continue to sign players? If you've done everything to cut your cloth accordingly then maybe but anything else is a piss take.

it does annoy me that there’s this default concept In all areas of life that the rich should dig deep and help the poor.

Jon, you're right about the structure of finances, of course you are but the whys and wherefore are more personal than that and PL clubs are unlikely to lift a finger to help the EFL.
I have just got back from holiday but last weekend saw the interview with Lampard where he suggested the PL would help but he doesn't sign the cheques. Imagine his response when Roman says he can't spend millions on another player as the money has gone to the EFL!!
Likewise I heard the Sean Dyche interview "Amazon don't bail their small suppliers out, why should we". Nothing doing there then.
The PL meeting yesterday to discuss money to the EFL reached no decision. Kick the can down the road time.
I watched the Andrew Marr interview with the Minister for our game on Sunday, " Not the job of Govt."
It has started. I said on another post Southend, Oldham, Bolton are being talked about in the same breath as Macc and Bury. Dover likely to go this week, Merther mothballed for a season and Harrogate manager making noises yesterday.
I think you could be waiting a long time for the cavalry to come over the hill to save the game at EFL level, I hope you're right and I'm wrong, we shall see but the pack of cards is trembling and Rugby League may be about to fall first and we all know what usually happens then, it becomes an avalanche. Incidentally for all the carping on here I don't think BCFC will be caught in that Avalanche thanks to the guy so many of you persist in criticising.

To be fair to Rhodes, and I'm not his greatest fan, the sell on agreed with Swansea has effectively saved this club from financial meltdown. Granted theres some fortune in Sheffield Utd throwing the Premier league money around but its still the biggest deal this club has had in monetary terms. Shame the only benefit we see of it is to be still happy just to have a club to support

Do me a favour Fordy. Please list the assets you think we should have and ascribe a value to them individually, thanks.

I'm here because I had done some work for @king karl@king karl before on another forum he had and when C&B shut down and he wanted to give all the C&B people somewhere to go he asked me to get the forum setup for him. And I'm still here managing the tech side of the site and hosting it.

And while I'm not a City fan as I thought most people were aware of I'm an overall football fan. It just annoys me that we keep seeing the PL pumping several hundred million into the EFL each year and its largely just pissed away. There is hardly a EFL club that isn't losing a massive amount each year, they are all basically edging closer and closer every season to going out of business. And their response to that as a whole isn't to try and find a way to be more sustainable, its to take the 'free' money and blow it on the short term trying to get to the PL. And its not like getting there secures a clubs future, just look at the many ex-premier league teams in the EFL, many of whom stayed there for multiple seasons who are now struggling. The EFL despite being Tier 2 to Tier 4 in England is one of the richest leagues in world without the PL handouts but they have been so wasteful with the money they are behind infrastructure and coaching wise than 2nd Tier leagues from countries where even their top tier has less money in it than the EFL and thats just crazy

I'm fine with the PL giving even more money if it means actually making the EFL more fit for purpose. Leagues that allow players to develop, where PL clubs are happy to actually send players on loan as they know they are likely to develop (And if they get injured aren't potentially having their career destroyed by poor quality medical teams) and where clubs own players either grow with them through the leagues or who get sold on which then allows the squads to be strengthened in multiple areas. But right now that's not happening, its throwing good money after bad. And as I said its not even as if the EFL clubs really want to help themselves either, the iFolow situation is a farce that only helps the handful of teams with massive fanbases such as City. You make decent money from all games be it home or away, others aren't because they don't have attendances when fans are allowed in grounds that exceed 10k. If there is a sign they want to help themselves and that they want to make the EFL more fit for purpose then sure lets have the PL throw money at it as it will be good for English football as a whole

Has anyone seen any of the footage from non-league games / fa cup qualy matches? Absolutely no social distancing with fans congregating behind the goals and the govt has agreed to a financial support package for them.

Meanwhile in pro football we can't have either, despite clubs putting in significant measures to ensure safety.
I simply don't understand it, as far as I'm aware the test events were a success so why can't we have a slow, phased return to outdoor stadia.

It's the double standards and complete lack of coherent strategy which is undermining the govt and is why you are seeing so many 'breaking' the rules as there is no credibility.

So you're indoors ALA a pub environment which is deemed unsafe in many parts of the country instead of outdoors which is deemed safer ..the madness goes on...
