Hoofball as it was so laughably termed gave us everything we've been lacking for the last 18 months. Physicality, determination, character, atmosphere, width, a midfield partnership, pace, identity.

Why wouldn't anybody want it back. Is it because you want to see limited footballers think they're fancy Dan's tippy tapping the ball around, having 57% of possession but never getting near the box?

 

If GB was "stubborn and controlling" as you describe him then surely he would have brought his own number 2 in? You assessment of him seems a tad contradictory.

 

Eh? Why would he? If he thinks he can do it on his own.

 

I would like to see how we play once Ismail, Cooke, Devitt and Pritchard are all up to speed. Yes that may take a few weeks but in the grand scheme of things promotion was never achieved in September.

Ideally we would have liked to have them all in early but as you well know we had to get rid of the higher earners, which took time. Doyle and Scannell have released funds and GB has then used them to bring 3 players in so far and possibly 1 or 2 more by the deadline.

I am happily sitting on the fence right now. Hoping that the new players can improve our midfield enough to make us genuine contenders.

Come the end of September I think we will all know the true state of play with the squad and GB's ability to get them playing how he wants.

I think we will know much sooner than that just how good the current squad really is and that will reflect what GB has put together and how he is getting them playing. I hope yesterday nudges GB not to play a back 3 again as we just don't have the right players for that.

Well he would have dug his heels in and insisted that HIS choice for assistant would be brought in. That would be the stubborn side you allude to. But that didn't happen.

 

That was probably due to money and the fact they would have to pay Drury off. So it would have been the case of players or a coach.

 

See I think he insisted not to have one.

 

Regardless of the pros and cons of longball i just want to see a decent game of football for once, can't remember the last time i saw a game worthy of being called entertainment.

 

Bradford City or any football Club should put a manager in that position though.

He probably chose to have Drury work with him so he can have a better budget for players and the club went along with his thinking.

 

The matchday programme states Drury is assistant manager.
