    How do you figure that?

Are these League Two clubs suddenly blessed with quality managers and players?

You think there are 12 better equipped teams?

    Give over.

The fear is missing out on the play offs, not that we'll be bottom half.

Give your head a shake. 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats without settling on a formation or first XI doesn't imply relegation, it implies the chances are likely we'll improve when we DO settle on a formation and first XI.

You simply do not need to be convincing to get promoted out of League Two.

We literally fluked getting into the play offs under Parky.

It depends what you describe as entertaining football.

If we're expecting a manager to make league two players pass it around like Man City then, yes. What many people see as entertaining these days is possession football with constant cutting edge, theres probably 15 teams at the top level who can't even achieve it.

As for Parkinson coming back. It's the only thing that I can see making me purchase a season ticket in the near future. I can definitely understand the people who say "you shouldn't go back" but if anybody wouldn't take him for footballing reasons they should give their head a shake.

We’d have to finish bottom for that to happen

As it been confirmed only 1 goes down this season, after Bury's demise?

Having Parky back? Its a no from me. He's done his time with us, lets see what Bowyer can do this season. If he fails to get at least playoffs then sack him off. Not getting into the playoffs in this division is quite frankly a disgrace.

Parky has surpassed us unfortunately but it would be nice to have such a competent manager.

Agree about Parky, plus I doubt he would come anyway. But to be honest I am not in favour of giving Bowyer the whole season, he has a couple of games for me to put this right. This is highly unusual for me, but what I have seen so far both last season and this is woeful. He got the benefit of doubt last season, but it looks like a continuation of last season. I could be wrong and really don’t mind him proving me wrong, but his recruitment is worrying, his continuing recruitment of players from his previous clubs, that tells me he is not seeing talents and attributes of players in the wider market, hence why we have no ball carrying midfielder. We also appear to be knee deep in midfielders that are not good enough. His defence recruitment has been good, attack good but dangerously limited.

His continued changing formations, is like someone who doesn’t know his best side, see above for why.

Just my instinct tbh, but I don’t think he can take us forward.

Fair comments, i'm not one for knee jerking but i can see where you're thinking is coming from. i posted elsewhere that it does have a feel of last season about in terms square peg/round hole recruitment, we are still carrying player like Akpan and Anderson, Devine is only good enough for a home grown bench spot and will never be anything else, i have no idea how Devitt, Cooke, Gibson, Ismail and Pritchard will fit into any system. 6 games into the season and it literally is anyones guess how we will line up next week, you might as well pick the names out of a hat. Not impressed at all so far.

I agree with you Mrs O but hope we are both proved wrong because I'm sick and tired of riding on the manager merry go round. What we need is a period of consistency and stability with a manager who can unite and take us forward, and I really want Bowyer to be that man. He's done so much right in terms of both rebuilding the clubs relationship with the fans and building team spirit within the squad, and his recruitment in terms of defence and attack has been excellent. It is very worrying however that so many of us have seen all along what we are missing but Bowyer does not appear to see this. Yes he's brought in midfielders now, but this appears to have been a panic smash and grab raid at the end of the transfer window rather than a well thoughtout recruitment of players that we actually need for that area of the pitch. This has resulted in him constantly tinkering with formations to try and find something that fits the players he has brought in, rather than having a plan first, and then recruiting the right players to fit that plan. Also, his stubborn refusal to admit his tinkering is costing us points worries me greatly. There's one more day left of the transfer window, let's keep our fingers crossed that we get the 2 or 3 players in that could really make the difference, and that once that happens, Bowyer starts playing to our strengths and stops tinkering!

Maybe we could prorogue the management team to stop them making more pathetic team selections

Formation and team selection seems pretty simple. But Bowyer is failing the simplest of tasks.

The players look clueless as to their roles. Every pro on the planet knows his role in a 442.

The issue now is he has flooded the team with central midfielders. They don't all fit in to the system so he will continue with his favoured 3 in the middle.

    He seems very stubborn

You are correct Exeter certainly helped our cause that season, seems you've dismissed the simple fact of us reaching Wembley the same season.
We still had to string the reults together to acheive that promotion.
That Parkinson team against the present squad is no contest.
Every time I went to a game I believed under Parky we would get a result. something I can't say at the moment to Bowyer team, he still has my backing but he needs to sort it quick, and stop making silly comments formations don't win matches players do.
It seemed to me again at the end of the Crewe game the players struggled playing his formation, twice Kirk finding himself bearing down on goal with no City player in sight. once yes but not twice.

It gives lower league players a good idea of the area they are working in and who they are supposed to pick up when under attack. Go to a three at the back and the space behind the 'wing back' ends up being left by the three centre backs because their natural reaction is to stay central. Not keen on a back three at all, creates unnecessary problems.

When did you last get that belief? The belief that we were going to get a result. I can't remember the last time that happened, and we've had God knows how many managers since Parky. With Macca, maybe - but there were always some howlers mixed with the good results, and then there was the Edin effect, and you never knew which McCall was walking out with the team - a confident one, or a one that has been told which team to play and carrying a stack of bricks on his back. Collins no, Grayson no, Drury no, this fella no.

Starved of all belief we all have been!!

It is likely but has not been confirmed. Discussion is scheduled for the EFL League 2 divisional meeting in September
