Isn't this the man who said, at the end of last season, that he wanted business done early rather than late, so that he had the players that he wanted on the training ground, they all knew each other and so that they would hit the ground running? The man has had ample time to sort out his team, tactics and formations. It does seem that to date, he is failing miserably.

How on this planet could you say no thanks. He is the greatest manager in our history. To see him walk out again at VP would just be incredible. By the way I'm not saying we should change manager (not just yet anyway).

    Agreed.

In GB's 6 months(?) at the club I'm yet to witness us put in a convincing performance. You'd have thought by now he'd at least have a set pattern of play and a favoured formation but it's almost a mini lottery on a weekly basis whereby we draw numbers for how many defenders and midfielders we'll play that week.

Yes save Fordy having to start a new thread - he can just resurrect his 'when do we start to question parky' one.

Fair comments, i'm not one for knee jerking but i can see where you're thinking is coming from. i posted elsewhere that it does have a feel of last season about in terms square peg/round hole recruitment, we are still carrying player like Akpan and Anderson, Devine is only good enough for a home grown bench spot and will never be anything else, i have no idea how Devitt, Cooke, Gibson, Ismail and Pritchard will fit into any system. 6 games into the season and it literally is anyones guess how we will line up next week, you might as well pick the names out of a hat. Not impressed at all so far.

I would not go back to Parkinson for fear it would hurt his great reputation.

If Parkinson came in and won 2 in 23, or whatever his worst period was last time, fans would not have the patience and that would be a huge shame.

Not for me. A manager who wants to attack teams and play to our strengths rather than shitting themselves over the opposition would be nice though.

Agree about Parky, plus I doubt he would come anyway. But to be honest I am not in favour of giving Bowyer the whole season, he has a couple of games for me to put this right. This is highly unusual for me, but what I have seen so far both last season and this is woeful. He got the benefit of doubt last season, but it looks like a continuation of last season. I could be wrong and really don’t mind him proving me wrong, but his recruitment is worrying, his continuing recruitment of players from his previous clubs, that tells me he is not seeing talents and attributes of players in the wider market, hence why we have no ball carrying midfielder. We also appear to be knee deep in midfielders that are not good enough. His defence recruitment has been good, attack good but dangerously limited.

His continued changing formations, is like someone who doesn’t know his best side, see above for why.

Just my instinct tbh, but I don’t think he can take us forward.

I agree with you Mrs O but hope we are both proved wrong because I'm sick and tired of riding on the manager merry go round. What we need is a period of consistency and stability with a manager who can unite and take us forward, and I really want Bowyer to be that man. He's done so much right in terms of both rebuilding the clubs relationship with the fans and building team spirit within the squad, and his recruitment in terms of defence and attack has been excellent. It is very worrying however that so many of us have seen all along what we are missing but Bowyer does not appear to see this. Yes he's brought in midfielders now, but this appears to have been a panic smash and grab raid at the end of the transfer window rather than a well thoughtout recruitment of players that we actually need for that area of the pitch. This has resulted in him constantly tinkering with formations to try and find something that fits the players he has brought in, rather than having a plan first, and then recruiting the right players to fit that plan. Also, his stubborn refusal to admit his tinkering is costing us points worries me greatly. There's one more day left of the transfer window, let's keep our fingers crossed that we get the 2 or 3 players in that could really make the difference, and that once that happens, Bowyer starts playing to our strengths and stops tinkering!

Maybe we could prorogue the management team to stop them making more pathetic team selections

I do understand where you are coming from and would normally be much more cautious before ditching the manager. We brought him in before last season finished do he could plan for this season. Yet here we are 6 games in and still floundering around to find a system style of play that suits us. In conjunction with that he appears to not know his best 11. We should not be here, we have a healthy budget for this level. Plus I don’t like managers who do not take responsibility for the results. The fans can make their own mind up about players, but he needs to shoulder the flack.

I just don’t see the difference from last season to this. We were in 3 points of safety when he arrived with 33 points to play for. He had an easy ride last season due to circumstances, but he was given a healthy budget, time to plan and recruit. A full pre season to sort out what style he wanted to play and recruit. We can’t keep on giving him slack. It isn’t like we have played really well and been unlucky. This is not the players fault, I am not having it.

There is no vacancy and we have a good manager already

Playing football is largely about confidence. Confidence in your own ability, and confidence in your team mates. Confidence comes from knowing your own role, and what others do around you. Look at Match of the Day yesterday. Aguero gets goals, because he gets the ball from his team mates, who don't even need to look up to pass to him. They know his role, and they are confident he is going to be in a position to pass to. Aguero makes those runs, knowing that his midfield are going to put it on a plate for him.

I know comparing us to Man City is very far fetched, but the basics are still the same. Every player in the team has a job, and every player in the team knows their own, and their teammates jobs. Certainly wasn't the case for us yday, and most of that blame, if not all of it, needs to rest on GB.

If only there was period before the season started where you could try out new formations and a first XI.

As I posted he had good players left by Kamara and had a good budget plus McGods return.
Where as Phil Parkinson started from scrath had a very poor squad left by the previous managers got them to battle kept us in the football league and went onto better his previous seasons every season after that.
Jewell did well no doubt and credit to him, it would have been interesting to see what he could have achieved the following season with a decent budget and no interferance from Richmond.

Having Parky back? Its a no from me. He's done his time with us, lets see what Bowyer can do this season. If he fails to get at least playoffs then sack him off. Not getting into the playoffs in this division is quite frankly a disgrace.

Spot on Liverpool, Barca the same.

    Even Rochdale!

    Football is a simple game.

To be honest I feel Bowyer not having a decent assistant is the biggest mistake Bradford City Football has made for years! All top managers will tell you that you need a good assistant.

I believe not paying Drury off is a massive mistake also has he highlights the Edin days and the negativity around it which we needed rid off.

Not having a decent number 2 just highlights Bowyer as been stubborn and controlling but he's getting it wrong. HE IS FAILING THIS CLUB! He needs HELP!
