He gets it and gets us. Its as simple as that. Not a puppet like Collins, not a primadonna like Grayson, not a Mr Angryhead like HopkinS, just a manager who understands what we are and what we expect. Footballs a results based business but i feel pretty confident with this guy at the helm of the ship.

The more I see and hear from Bowyer, the more I like him.
He’s really trying to get to know all he can about the club. His distance for Darbs video another example of him trying to get closer to the fans.
I really hope he is as successful and here as long as ParkyBronco, Ollylondonbantam, YungNath and 13 others like this. -

I can't tell you how happy I am we didn't make a desperation move by appointing a tosser like Evans.
We were going down no matter what, we simply didn't have a squad capable of playing a proper formation. It was an utter joke, last season, a total disaster.
Bowyer coming in was a smart move, as it gave him time to realise exactly what he needed to do - and he's a long termer (it's all about commanding respect), not like the fat, red controller.
Granted, if we're bottom ten by Christmas, Bowyer's probably gone, but I really don't see that. For the first time in a long while, I can honestly say this transfer window has INCREASED my expectations. Frankly, I'd have been happy with these signings in L1, never mind L2.bantam2708, Onside, WilsdenBantam and 8 others like this. -

OK, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I reckon Anderson is going to do a good job in our midfield this season. He was a highly rated prospect at higher level not that long ago, before getting injured.
I thought there were flashes of a good player shown at times last season, albeit in small amounts, but enough to make me think that if he gets proper match fitness in a happy and balanced team he could turn out to be an asset.
Much less confident about Akpan though. He obviously has plenty of ability but seems to lack the heart to make proper use of it.
What none of us know is just how much the toxic environment created by Edin's shitshow affected each of the individual players. I know I'm clutching at straws here, but I'm hoping that at least some of last year's wastes of space will be rejuvenated under Bowyer's regime and will perform like good new signings.
This may be complete wishful thinking, but I'm trying to be positive in case we don't manage to sign more proven quality midfielders, as we'd all like.borderlescott, Bantam Boy, Pineapple Salesman and 8 others like this. -

I enjoy that Fordy tags the ambassadors as if its their decision on the manager
anyway - this is good, I'm glad he wants to be here and it's a positive that its all tied up. we need that stability. now we know that Rupp is staying and committed to under writing the finances, and Rhodes running things day to day tieing up the manager was the next step.
I look forward to seeing what he can do in the summer with regards shifting out this shower of shite and recruiting new players.TallinnBantam, RCarol, Aaron Baker and 6 others like this. -

Out muscled and out paced by several visiting teams who have generally looked down on us even during the pre match handshake.

I think this is a very good move and whilst I know it’s only words at the moment I think his stated aim of having a physical squad with pace and still play football is exactly what is needed. Difficult to achieve but a good aim

We just need some balance back.
When you look at the two most successful periods in the clubs history in the last 30 years or so we had Jewell's promotion team and Parky's promotion team.
Under Jewell: little and large upfront. Small, but tenacious, ball winner alongside technically gifted passer in CM. Pace and power down Lawrence's flank and trickery and guile down Beagrie's. We had a safe keeper and defenders who could defend.
Under Parkinson we again had a well balanced team. Doyle was the Whalley. Jones was the McCall. Wells and Hanson were the little and large combo. We had two no-nonsense centre backs who could concentrate and knew how to defend and we had a good mix in that Meredith liked to bomb forward and support Reid, as Jacobs liked to do with Beagrie in Jewell's side, while Darby was more defensive minded and ensured it wasn't all out attack.
All of the players knew what their role was in both sides and when we had an injury, someone just slotted in and performed the same job. It helped that we knew who the manager was each week.
Now the German fruitloop has left the building and we've tied Bowyer down for two years I just hope we can return to some sort of stability. In these final weeks of the season, as we prepare for the inevitable, make steps to clearout as much of the deadwood as we realistically can, then start to plan a proper pre season ASAP. Form an identity, a style, rather than looking like a load of headless chickens thrown together like was the case this season. Get new signings in the club early and allow them to develop the understanding and build up their fitness, which never happened this season.
Get them ice baths and proteins bars and whatever else is needed!CT Bantam, Hulmebantam, Morley Bantam and 5 others like this. -

A lot of teams over the years who have been successful have had big players who can get the ball down but also mix it and play long when required. It also gives an edge at set pieces and the percentage game. Very few teams play pure football at lower league level

Having just listened to his full interview I am very pleased that, at long last, we have a manager who has a recruitment plan for next season before the end of the current one.
He will need at least 2 windows to reshape his squad.
He wants to bring back the good times where supporters identify with the team.
Parky and Stuart got a mention. -
Great news and we can have a stable summer compared to the mess of last season.
Think from his interview we know what we are going to get. A powerful side that won’t be bullied like this season.

Akpan I'm 50/50 on, I think he'd be decent next to a proper defensive midfielder but hes on a fair wage so I'm not fussed if he goes.
I'd keep O'Donnell without doubt. His save at Charlton was magnificent by the way.
Wood has potential to improve and I think he'll be fine in league 2. Riley is a tough one as hes probably been treated unfairly but if his attitude stinks then get rid. Although I'd be tempted to give him another chance.
I'd keep Mellor, Bowyer can get the best out of him although his injuries this year are a worry.
I also don't get all the hate for Scannell either. When he played he certainly didn't lack effort like some of the shirkers and it seems like he's had a genuine injury. Having said that I think he'll leave.
Doyle with a proper partner and in the right system will score goals too, without question. So I'd keep him too.WilsdenBantam, Bantamsmike, Budgie and 3 others like this. -
