Yes he had something that Rahic didn’t have and that is a good slice of luck. I don’t share your analysis of character I think there are strong similarities. However, Richmond also had something that Rahic did not have very good charisma and the ability to convince ppl to invest in the club. Plus we at least enjoyed the ride in our ignorance before it all went bump.

Was it really that good, once the novelty wore off, great first season but not the best for fans getting to games on Saturday midday some 3pm kick off's others 5:30 pm. Some Sunday lunch or 4 pm, not forgetting Monday night, I take us being a good Championship side.

Sometimes there is a fine line between success and failure. Think Wembley! We had it in the palm of our hands, and Rahic failed to recognise gold when he saw it.

It was my lifelong ambition for the club so I wouldn’t have wanted to miss it not bothered about getting there again in my lifetime so I am lucky the chances are about nil

Even though we were one Billy Clarke miss from promotion all he had to do was keep most of the squad together and add one or 2 decent players but no he wanted to play football manager.

2 years later we're in div 2. Unbelievable!

    Losers mentality.

The aim of any club has to be to get to the top.

You're just happy rocking in your plastic seat now.

The Premiership is so heavily loaded against clubs that get promoted from the Championship competing.
You look at the Premier League and see that at best there are only 6 teams that have a chance of winning it.

    Look at Man Utd!!! Embarrassing

I think only 2 teams now have a chance of winning the PL and I am not talking this season. The next 5 at least.

Agree we may not have been able to keep the likes of Mezza and Marshall but he never gave McCall a chance and now most realise why he didn't now.

To be honest it should be Manchester City's trophy every season with the financial clout they have, but as someone posted the other day it will take many years for Manchester City to get out of the shadows of the biggest club in Britain and possibly the World.

Hopefully the government bodies in football will come down hard on Man City though if they find fault in what's allegedly been carried out. It's a joke what they've allegedly done with their finances.

However, yes Man City should be winning it every year but Man City will never ever, ever be a big club until they've won the CL.

Championship for me any day. Apart from the novelty of the first year in the Prem I far preferred playing at Championship level. It might sound odd, but I actually enjoyed watching it more.

whilst also having to completely rebuild the squad that was rebuilt then, you couldn't make it up. I am optimistic now hes gone though and we can build some stability which in turn will lead to results. The biggest factor in how quick our success will be is how quickly bowyer can shift most of the squad and get his own men in. another crucial recruitment window, why do we never get to have a quiet one!

Playing devils advocate here how would you have kept the following players?

Merdeith - Millwall offered him a contract
Marshall - Wanted to move to London to be near family
Cullen - recalled by Wets Ham who wanted him in the Championship

Darby was let go as McMahon was preffered at right back, McArdle looked like a big miss, was never replaced but he wanted a 3 year deal (maybe should have given) and Clarke was let go - was he a miss?????

Meredith should have been offered a new contract months before his contract expired. Darby was the better full back in my opinion and should have been retained. The rest I agree, dont think we could have done anything about, apart from McArdle, and to be fair, a 3 year contract was too big a risk. The biggest mistake of course, was messing about all that summer trying to replace him, and failing miserably

Should of offered Mezza a deal months before, we all could see what was happening. McArdle would of stayed if we offered him a contract he was deserved. Instead we got rid of Wyke, Jones, Kilgallon, Doyle, Law, Dieng etc and replaced them with A.O'Connor, J.Wright, G.Miller, O'Donnell, Akpan. A complete shambles.

Correct, but what you do is replace them with better. That is what successful clubs do, like Sheffield U. It costs money, but the result of not doing that is failure. Rahic thought he knew better than McCall, and his dream was put into operation, our squad is full of kids who arrived here as the ‘next big name’ and good professionals who knew how it was done were ignored, and here we are.

Whilst all true the amount of fans that wanted players like Doyle, Law and Dieng gone far outweighed the ones that could see what they brought to the team/squad. Meredith was gone, as was Marshall and even players like McCardle/Clarke at the time were not a big loss to a lot of city fans.

The problem was and we all now know was Rahic and his dream team/theory.
