I keep saying this but it seems to me more and more obvious that the combination of Rupp and Rhodes are determined to spend as little as possible. What the thinking behind it is heaven knows but perhaps Rupp is not prepared to lose any more money in the bottomless pit of VP. And, as ever, the silence from them both is deafening.

 

Absolute lunacy if we start the season without a recognised right back.

 

I've read somewhere the the journey times from his home to Mansfield and Bradford weren't too much different. As you allude to, it looks like he's worked himself a new deal at Mansfield out of it. Not really bothered because long term he's not what we need, you look at Peterborough and they've just sold yet another striker on for a profit in Ivan Toney to Brentford. If you are looking for the best chance of being self sufficient this is the way to go.

 

Totally agree, and given the struggles McCall seems to be openly admitting to in trying to get an experienced striker in, I'd love it if the club actually had the balls to be a bit bold and go for someone like Tshimanga.

 

In fairness to park, the Donaldson and Vaughan was reaping dividends to the point of Morecambe. Whilst the football wasn't the greatest, we was challenging at the business end of the table.

We will never know what would have been had that very same partnership continued...

But Donaldson is now 10 months older. He did look awfully unfit at Town and agree with you Steve, that he has seen better days. It's too many years since CD scored the relevant goals needed, which we had in Vaughan. Whilst CD, has his assets, we need a goalscorer.

Now.. When the season starts from September 2020. Clayton is not this answer.

Surely any team who needed a first choice right back would have signed one by now.....??

 

It’s ridiculous that we are in the position of starting a season without a recognised right back, sick of this we’re gunna try and get players in! There’s teams all around us getting loans from clubs higher up the pyramid. It’s always us that’s behind on everything! McCall’s had 5 month to get in clubs/players ears!

 

Doesn't mention City, bear in mind he was at Bolton & Charlton, not exactly paragons of good managment

I know this might sound a bit daft but I am almost pleased we havent got anybody in yet after Tuesday (and probably wont before the weekend) because I am 99% certain they would be desperation signings to appease the fans after the Lincoln debacle. My honest feeling is there has to be action by this time next week but Stuart is right to hold his nerve a little longer and follow his instincts on who is right for the club - and the players who were so weak on Tuesday HAVE to be the ones to put it right on Saturday, as we cant change the lot of them!

It is about ambition, For example one club scours world football for the best manager available they can afford, The other club lazily never looks anywhere else other than the chief execs personal phone book. It is not hard to see why one has reached the Premier league and the other has sunk to the depths of one above non league football

 

Can’t agree with you there mate. Bowyer had completely lost the dressing room by the time he was chopped. Zero chance he was turning that around.
