I get why we're taking so long, and it's the sensible thing to do - but with the one off situation we're in, we need to be cashing in on getting players in a buyer's market

Useful tweet from simon parker as usual, transfer window deadline might be mid October but the season does start next week and City are prepared!!

Same sh!t - Different season

 

I'm not sure what's sensible about it? We're very short in several areas. Our season starts in 48 hours.

 

If we'd had any sort of ambition left at all, we'd have done early business and brought in quality, limiting the exposure to the salary cap before it kicked in.

Internally, we must be delighted with the salary cap. It's the perfect excuse to mask our lack of planning, ambition and strategy.

Maybe just maybe talking to said Premiership clubs with regards taking one of their players for a season long loan ?.

 

Sorry, but there's no way in the world that Premiership sides are waiting on their own business before making a call on whether to send a kid to the shitpool of League 2.

It's truly baffling. The very first player we signed back in July, was signed on the knowledge we wouldn't actually be able to play him for the first four games (Mickey Mouse Cup aside). Technically, that means we've only brought in two new players that weren't here at the end of last season and will be eligible to play at the start of the season. One of those is past his best (Clarke) and the other is a young lad who may or may not come good (Watt). I'm really struggling at this moment in time to see where we have actually strengthened.

 

It’s ridiculous that we are in the position of starting a season without a recognised right back, sick of this we’re gunna try and get players in! There’s teams all around us getting loans from clubs higher up the pyramid. It’s always us that’s behind on everything! McCall’s had 5 month to get in clubs/players ears!

 

Not for the first time the club really doesnt help itself in the way it words these messages - our last signing was the night of the video interviews (a long time ago) so to even mention 6 more weeks when the new season starts on Saturday is hardly going to raise the mood of the fans.
All I would say is the message says 'WITHIN' the next 6 weeks, so in theory this could happen at any time in this period. I really hope we are going to give it our best shot a Bolton because the club needs a lift, and a good Cup run could be the catalyst for this

 

Ridiculous stance this. Waiting and waiting for a decision from Premier League clubs, that might never materialise. All the while, other clubs strengthen around us with the quality that is still in the free agents pool. We may find ourselves 12 points behind the leading back by October and then be kicked in the balls when the Premier League clubs say thanks but no thanks, by that time all the best of the talent has gone and the window slams shut ! Have we not learnt anything over the last few years?! Honestly this f^€£!n club boils my p!$$

Agreed, the sort of players we'll be enquiring about are not ones that are on the fringes of the first team, they are the ones that are either going to be loaned out or will be playing in the under 23s. If clubs are telling us we need to wait, it's because they are hoping a club in a higher division are going to come in for their player. Waiting and hoping that doesn't happen is a very dangerous game : if they aren't prepared to say yes now, we should move on and look elsewhere.
