Never watch ANY PL football (I have absolutely zero interest in it) so I wouldn't know, but (devils advocate as well) isn't that like comparing Bradford City with Steeton United in the NWC league ?

No-one will ever agree on tactics, and that's the beauty of these debates, but for me there is still a place for 442 in this khazi league, where most players are only one bad season away from being at Guiseley, even if it's not every match and for all the match.

You need to look at the level the Blackburn players play at, and where they have been schooled. We play at L2 and your comment is ridiculous. You can't even begin to compare Cook to any of those. Breaton-Diaz is valued at £25,000,000.

You've just proved you know nothing about the different levels of football with that stupid comment. Cook scores at one in three. If scores 20 this year but we don't go up, are you honestly advocating we get rid of him because he can't move the ball like a championship player ?

 

Funny enough Hanson suited the way we played hence one of the points I am talking about.

Hanson might not have been prolific but he fitted perfectly in the system at the time

 

For this level, it doesn't matter that he isn't that good overall - when are you going to realise that the league your second team play in is very different to the league your beloved Liverpool play in. Cook scores goals in league 2, that's a fact, and whilst things may not have got to the stage of offers being made, I would be very surprised if there haven't been a few enquiries made about him.

I think Cook will score more goals in away games than at home this season due to the way teams set up against us at VP.

Give him service and he will score, that's pretty much all you want your number 9 to do. He's not there to hang deep and get the ball or defend or bring others into play. He's there to pick up on the scraps and bundle it over the line. His game is more Billy Sharp than Billy Clarke.

Unless you are Shearer, or Kane or similar, then a career average of one in three is good. Billy Sharp has had 18 seasons in league football but only 5 where he has scored more than 16 goals.

Over a long career his goal scoring record stands up with any number 9 at this level and we need to make the most of him.

 

Angols an injury prone diver and Oliver has shown absolutely nothing in the minutes he's had so far. Hughes will be knocking their door downt to tell them why Cook is the 1st choice at the moment. Neither of those two have a credible argument as to why they should be in over Cook right now.

 

Hope he plays Oliver tonight we need competition so he needs to get off the mark and build confidence which is what all strikers require

The centres halves and central midfield pair are the root cause of that

 

It was evident how quickly Walsall moved the ball from back to front compared to us. The midfield line up just didn't work, the lack of pace meant we couldn't play early ball down the channels which in turn meant our centre backs are stuck with the ball. To be fair to Smallwood he's getting stick but it was his quick ball to put Halliday down the flank and his quick free kick that put Harratt in. I think we are still some way from finalising our best eleven.

 

I think he deserves another couple of years. If we go up and he’s deemed surplus to requirements there will be no shortage of takers in L2

Right. Just to get this clear. We have a lad who is scoring at a goal every 87minutes he's on the field. He hasn't scored from open play in the last three but then hasn't had one realistic chance to score set up for him. Remember, we aren't talking about Haaland here. We are talking about a league 2 striker who is currently deadly in the area if the chances come. Ill reiterate, Andy Cook currently is not a problem for Bradford City. We have way more pressing problems than one of the highest goalscorers in the country

 

We play 4-2-3-1, you've literally got 10 other players to try and create chances, you don't need the 1 sole striker looking to top the assist charts.

 

Imagine if Cook was playing for another club and was scoring at the same rate. As a fan base we'd be looking on with envy, yet we actually have that very player doing exactly those things and folk are talking about leaving him out. Don't get football fans sometimes.

 

If he's missed chance after chance I'm looking at the striker thinking maybe he does need a rest after all. If, like has happened, we've created nothing then I'm looking at the team set up and how we can all create more openings for him.

That's just common sense isn't it?
