Problem is, we were all for Oliver playing instead of Cook, and when he did, he was terrible. Same story with Timmy on the weekend! I'll admit, since the season start, Oliver looks to come on a bit. We need him and Banks on the pitch at the same time. Preferably dropping Pereira for Banks.

The problem was Oliver came on but they still kept on playing the ball up to Cook it should have been the other way round or it would have been the perfect opportunity to see Oliver with Harratt

That just proves my long held theory of why you and The Kitchenator are never seen in the same room at the same time.

So that's Cook fault is it? Or would they just have then played it to Harratt if he's come on for Cook?

You do see the flawed logic in your post don't you?

What else does he offer other than giving fouls away every time he goes for the ball. He is the first name on the tea sheet at the moment because he is in top scoring form if like last season he isn’t scoring he is nor worth his space

Yet he finished leading scorer out for weeks and still hits the target more than any other player, as he did the previous season when he came on loan from Mansfield, come on you'll have to do better than that.

Imagine if Cook was playing for another club and was scoring at the same rate. As a fan base we'd be looking on with envy, yet we actually have that very player doing exactly those things and folk are talking about leaving him out. Don't get football fans sometimes.

He scored 11 league goals last season 3 of which in one match meaning he scored less than one in four not good for a centre forward and his general play was very poor and he was lucky to be still here this season. He knew that and with great respect to him he came back fighting ft and because of his goals he is now first name on the team sheet rightly. As a the lone player up front his control and ability to bring others in lacks and if his goals dry up he offers little else

Try as you might you can't argue with facts and that's what I've posted, leading goal scorer season 2020/21, 2021/22, and very likely season 2022/23, what does it matter how he scored his goals he scores them, if he didn't then I could understand.

Well here are the stats for last season. Fourteen players scored more goals. However 6 of them scored a single goal more. His performance so far this season, if he only scores one in four (there are 34 games left, not including the FA cup) then his performance is going to be good. He already has 9 league goals. So @ a ratio of 1:4 he will get another 9/10. That puts him in easy reach of the rare 20 a season. If he had got 19 goals last season he would be the fourth highest scorer.

So here's the question. You have a red hot striker who hasn't scored from open play in three games. Do you blame the players around him for not creating chances or do you blame the player himself for not creating his own chances? Sounds daft doesn't it? But that's exactly whats being discussed in a roundabout way.

If he's missed chance after chance I'm looking at the striker thinking maybe he does need a rest after all. If, like has happened, we've created nothing then I'm looking at the team set up and how we can all create more openings for him.

That's just common sense isn't it?

Oh and btw Andy Cook has 32 goals in 77 appearances.

Nahki Wells had scored 30 goals in his first 77 games.

One's apparently one of the best strikers we've had at the club in recent times and the other one needs dropping?

    The mind boggles.

I can guarantee Wells was doing a hell of a lot more when not scoring though ............ it boils down to this they either put Cook in alongside another forward or the rest of the team have to create a lot more for him ............if neither is going to happen then sadly Andy Cook become redundant :( and that ain’t gonna fill the lad with confidence ............. I just hope this ain’t the start of a Doyle / Vaughan situation where we do have strikers that WILL score goals but a manager is to stubborn to do something about it
