Half of Hansons City career at L1 level. Not L2. That to consider...

I like Cook, I liked Hanson...he drifted off that last season but he was good for 12-15 goals a season. His partnership with Wells best since Mills and Blake imo.

Without a doubt Hanson has had a better career overall than Cook. Cook has a better goal scoring record but Hanson can look back on a more successful career - so far.

For this level, it doesn't matter that he isn't that good overall - when are you going to realise that the league your second team play in is very different to the league your beloved Liverpool play in. Cook scores goals in league 2, that's a fact, and whilst things may not have got to the stage of offers being made, I would be very surprised if there haven't been a few enquiries made about him.

Of course it matters at this level.
We have a way of playing and players have to fit in to that system.

Currently Cook is scoring goals which is great but overall as a footballer he’s shite and if the goals dry up then he offers nothing.

Goes without saying while he is scoring he deserves a place in this team but does he suit the way how MH wants to play? I doubt that very much.

He will be back on the bench soon enough if them goals stop.

    I rest my case.

Cook was poor! No goal. Offered nothing.

Objection your honour. The whole team offered nothing today. No one was above a 5 in my view except our goalkeeper who made 2 decent saves. Apart from that it was a bad day at the office.

I think Cook will score more goals in away games than at home this season due to the way teams set up against us at VP.

    What I wrote is true.

However, Cook doesn’t hold the ball up and can’t create anything out of nothing.

He doesn’t even shoot. Too be fair I don’t think he even showed for the ball.

MH was right to bring him off.

Still waiting for you to name his replacement, to bring us up to speed with the modern game-as you said.

Agreed MH was absolutely right to bring Cook off as it clearly wasn't working, but I'm pretty sure out of the 40 games remaining Cook will have plenty of good days for us.

At hartlepool he was all over the pitch, his attitude and application this year has been noted by everyone for a reason.

Tin hat time but I do agree with some of what @Fordy117@Fordy117 is saying on this. I wrote in another post that I wonder if Cook’s form has thrown a bit of a spanner in how Hughes planned to play this season so far and now he’s having to try adapt with the players he has available.

If this is the case it’s a little worrying as it means our plan B or C is limited (not entirely sure what plan A is at the moment?!) but regardless I can’t help think that Oliver was brought to be starting striker and Cooks form, together with injuries to Walker and Osadebe, he’s accommodating to a style he maybe didn’t plan to use as his preferred?

Cooks problem is that he Does spend to much time chasing the ball, Cook is a finisher and the teams responsibility is to create chances for him, His job is to be ready and in the best position to convert those chances, The more he runs round the pitch looking for the ball as some seem to want the less effective he will be.

Did bringing Oliver on it changed the game ?, our service to both Cook and Oliver was poor to say the least, our best chances came from individual skill from Banks.

    This is true.

We brought Oliver in knowing his strength is heading.

My guess is we want Oliver to be able to flick it on to Walker and who is playing either side of him but clearly this plan changed when Walker got injured and Cook scored some goals.

However, barring goals Cook offers nothing to our style or play. So we will have an issue like yesterday when the goals stop. Cook will be back on the bench soon. It’s clear.

Yet some claim he doesn't offer the team anything other than goals.

Once I saw Hughes was making a couple of subs I thought he might go three at the back and go for the win, that's not a critism of Hughes but in his post match interview he knew Crewe were happy sitting in for a point.
