Every team in our league would take the cook monster.

You're right, I don't think it is true. But equally, it isn't true to say that none of them would take him, because plenty would.

Yeah right. 1) He's injured and still on crutches 2) He's not a centre forward and would be as much out of position there as Cook would be at Right Back.

At this moment in time I genuinely believe it is. Feed him he scores. I think most teams in this shizen division would snap their hands off for him.

Well it’s not true and other teams have let him go. Teams in this division.

He offers nothing when the goals dry up and that’s an issue.

    Me too.

Give him service and he will score, that's pretty much all you want your number 9 to do. He's not there to hang deep and get the ball or defend or bring others into play. He's there to pick up on the scraps and bundle it over the line. His game is more Billy Sharp than Billy Clarke.

Unless you are Shearer, or Kane or similar, then a career average of one in three is good. Billy Sharp has had 18 seasons in league football but only 5 where he has scored more than 16 goals.

Over a long career his goal scoring record stands up with any number 9 at this level and we need to make the most of him.

Unbelievably I agree with you. But while he's scoring and fit he's well worth his place. Ffs I just agreed with Fordy

While he is scoring yes he does deserve a place but as shown on Saturday when not he’s dreadful.

How was he dreadful on Saturday? He was no threat because of how we'd lined up, we could have played any striker on Saturday and it wouldn't have made a difference. There was simply no service.

If we were creating chances and he was missing them you may have a point but when we create zero chances for him your post is rubbish

    :joy::joy::joy:
Both his goals at Hartlepool could hardly be classed as a flukes, or his header against Hull, you're watching a different game to me.

That second at Pools was a great finish - a striker brimming with confidence, playing with a swagger. Was superb.

His header vs Hull was a banger too- pick that out.

Blackburn was a tap-in but that’s his strikers instinct and capped off a good move created by having width from the 4-4-2

Some aren't happy unless their scapegoating, Cook has limited ability hence why he's not played at a higher level during his career but some of the stuff I'm reading on here is beyond belief.
Cook got little service on Saturday nor did Oliver when he was brought on, at this level you rarely have a striker who is capable of playing with his back to goal who can control the ball then leave his marker for dead, and Cook certainly isn’t that player.

He can’t create chances for himself.

This level now you have to be able to do that.

    He’s not a scapegoat goat.

However, we didn’t sign Oliver on a 3 year contract for nothing and I expect him to be in the team soon.

Logic would say signing someone on a 3 year contract he would be the player with the shirt, unfortunatly when you start with the shirt and offer little getting substituted by a player who come on and scores what looked like the goal that got us a point at Barrow he can't really blame anyone but himself.
If Cook goes through a lean spell with regards goal scoring then Oliver will be given his chance.
As we have seen teams like Doncaster and Crewe coming to Valley Parade is going to be the way opposition teams set up, Hughes has to have an answer to it, scoring an early goal as we did against Newport is one way that doesn't leave the opposition that choice they have to come out and be more adventurous.

I can’t believe Cook has scored six out of our ten goals this season and people are talking about him not being up to the job.
If he’s not, then what does that say about the other nine out field players who have scored 4 between them all season?
Cook is a very good forward at this level and when you get someone like that you need to play to their strengths.
He’s feeding on scraps and has six already
