Sorry, was trying to think of prolific goal scorers at the club who had limitations in their game but still influenced part of the clubs history.

Hanson was prolific? Really? I'm not even sure that's worth the time I've used to reply.

That wasn't the point he made though. He specifically said goalscorers that contributed little else to the team. You should have used Nahki Wells if you wanted an example from that era.

Funny enough Hanson suited the way we played hence one of the points I am talking about.

Hanson might not have been prolific but he fitted perfectly in the system at the time

What's the big difference this season to next season if he scores 20 in both?

If he scores 20 this season and 20 next, I'm hoping the big difference would be that next season's 20 are in League One.

I'd take 20 from him in league 2 this season and 12-15 in league 1 next season to be honest

Fordy you're looking at it through the prism of top level Premier League where rightly the best clubs expect and demand that their goalscorers are all-rounders . At L1 and L2 the importance of having strikers who score goals and maybe do not do much else is still vital. Look at the stats over the last few seasons. It's the difference in the levels on the pyramid, pure and simple. And fair do's to Andy Cook, he defends back really strongly as well as scoring goals.

Actually Hansons goal scoring ratio was very similar to Cook taken over a much longer period

True. Bizarre to laud one and chastise the other. I bet Hansons assist ratio is greater than Cooks too.

Bollocks. No offers because he’s not that good overall.

Is it true though? Or are we being selective in which games we actually want to add to make our statistics back up our particular point of view?

Stats dont really lie? Its all recorded.

Cook has 26 goals in 71 games. Hanson was on 22 around the same amount of games. He was a younger inexperienced pro too.

I'm talking about overall careers though, not just Hansons most prolific spell of his career and ignoring the rest.

If you're just going on a 70 game spell at City then yes, I suppose park's statement has an element of truth.

Overall for City? Hanson was 1 in 4, Cook is 1 in 3 over all.

Bearing in mind of course Hanson played far more of his games at League level than cook

Hanson played in a 2 up top with wingers putting the ball in. Cook has predominantly played as a lone striker. Reverse the roles and I think Cook would outperform Hanson comfortably, but it’s all hypothetical unless we change formation.
