65 goals, 17 assists, 120 league games. Anyone that slags him off is an idiot.

    You won’t convince them.
It’s always the same with the Cook haters..

When he scores he’s just doing his job.
When he doesn’t he’s useless and the alternatives will always offer something better.

Ultimately this proves to be nonsense when Oliver and Derbyshire fail to offer anything match after match.

It makes me laugh with Cook.
Any other striker who plays against us and does nowt for 80 minutes but scores a late goal in a 1-0 win gets praised for keeping his head up and taking his only chance.
With Cook,he’s criticised for what he doesn’t do for 80 minutes rather than what he does for the last 10.

So, after yesterday that's 19 goals and 10 assists over 48 appearances and in total, he's got 70 in just 163 appearances.

He's also a talisman and the only regular and reliable goalscorer in the squad.

I just can't get my head around anyone wanting to move him on due to a perceived lack of mobility. He's a centre forward and the facts prove that he clearly scores and creates goals. What more do you want?

He was clearly injured. There were games when he was winning nothing in the air because he could hardly get off the ground.

We need to evolve beyond Cook. We need more mobility and technical skill in the front line.

A front 3 of Young down the middle and 2 from 3 of Wright, Chapman and Pointon either side is what we should go with

Honestly with all the problems we have, Cook is not one of them.

Only really Derek Stokes can compare with Cooks ratio with regards his scoring record, both Jewell and McNiven played far more games Jewell269 appearances and Daisy McNiven 212, some of our so call supporters who knock Andy Cook need to educate themselves with regards Bradford City Football Club.

Fantastic record Cook has and despite occasional criticism for his lack of involvement in matches the fella is a gem.

Was so impressed with his drive and attitude after he missed the penalty, you could see him shaking his head and berating himself but that goal had everything - fantastic skill, determination and awareness after the initial save. Well done Cookie

I've been impressed with Youngs attitude. I know he's a professional footballer and gets paid to do his job, but how many times have we seen recalls, transfer speculation and shenanigans affect a players disposition. By contrast Jake seems well up for it, keen to be part of the team and to prove his worth.

And yet we had plenty on here questioning his commitment and the lads attitude. But then fans seem to do that regularly without knowing the lad behind the shirt, making assumptions based on heresay.

We were in a better place back in 2013. At an equivalent time, we were in 10th place. We had accumulated more points (44) from 1 fewer games (30) compared to the current season. Currently other teams have a game in hand on us; in 2013 we had games in hand on others. To get to the same target of say 75 points, we had to achieve 1.9 pts per game compared to the 2.3ppg we have to achieve now. I wouldn't describe that as being in a slightly worse position back in 2013. I guess we'd all agree that we did really well in 2013 to get into the playoffs (with only 69 pts for the record!) helped by the likes of Exeter blowing up in the final games; but we'll have to do even better this season. I just don't see it happening. Imo, there are 7 or 8 other teams who currently would regard themselves as better placed than us to get into the playoffs.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I'm trying to be realistic .. for my own peace of mind!

You really think he’s a one in twelve chance player? He has spells where he misses chances and spells where he takes them all.
Even in a struggling team creating little to nothing the first half of the season he’s on for 20 goals plus.
I don’t get the bad press he gets from his own fans - he’s the best striker we’ve had in donkeys years and up there with Wells and Wyke for goal returns since the days of Peter Thorne and prior to that Windass

I also mentioned yesterday what Kav has brought to the team.
He does a lot of the running that Cook was expected to do when he was played up front by himself.

Kav will be a very important player next year.
5 goals in 15 starts this year hopefully converts in to 12/15 next season and also gives Cook a bit of confidence that he isn’t the only player who has to score our goals.

It’s funny that in the transfer priorities thread, not one person has suggested Cook be replaced.(I know he’s on a long deal but so are others who people have suggested be let go - Smith,Oliver)

Every department of the side needs improvement but the thing that gets you wins -goals,particularly from strikers seems to be quite low down the list of vital improvements.
This is because we’ve got a player who with the right service will just about guarantee 20 goals a season.
    Cook scores goals
It’s what he’s done every season he’s played for us.
He is not the reason we’ve failed to get to the play offs.

He looked unfit because he got injured in the first game and because of Hughes/Gent/Sparks inability or refusal to bring in a fit, genuine option, we continued to flog him to death.

The bloke could barely run in some games which is why, as you've noted, his performances were poor.

I still believe he was contributing though and criticism has been exaggerated due to his excellent achievements last year.

Cooky is fast making himself a city goalscoring legend.
