Seeing that he hasn’t been out with an injury, then some games he might not have been arsed. He wasn’t alone in not giving everything under Hughes.

He was clearly injured. There were games when he was winning nothing in the air because he could hardly get off the ground.

Just because he didn’t have games out injured doesn’t mean he wasn’t.
He finished one game barely being able to stand up straight but couldn’t come off because Hughes had already wasted his five subs

He certainly wasn’t 100% . Two or three games his thigh was heavily strapped up. It was clear we needed Oliver back to give him a break . I thought MH was one not to “ risk” players . He risked Walker , Cook and Pattison to name but three at various stages .

So begs the question did he want to play or was he been forced whilst not fully fit?

It’s a consistent narrative many players “will play through anything” was that the case for Cook? Whatever the situation the decision to play him whilst not fit was a bad one. Even if it were 2-3 games he was completely rested where he wasn’t, he should have been.

Who knows whether he wanted to play or would have preferred to rest up.
But either way, the fact is, because of our appalling summer decision not to sign anyone as cover/competition, there was no one else available who could play the lone hold-up striker role.

Just to point out that Cook was in fact out injured for 3 games following the win over Crewe at home where, at the end, you could see he was struggling. He came back into the team and scored 3 against Newport. Even in that game he was far from 100% - early on he went up for a header and after he landed was hobbling for a while. My suspicion is that he was injured in the first game at Crawley but was asked by Hughes to play through the pain barrier.

Any idiot who criticises his skill, ability or commitment needs to give their head a wobble

There was an argument of him not celebrating with the fans on Saturday, but the fans were split between two stands, down the side and behind the goal. He headed for the corner between the two. Strange some people read that as a blanking of the fans.

As for Cooky himself. He look far better and looks far happier not slogging away on his own. He is forming a partnership with Smith, and when Smith went off instead of leaving him up on his own, Oliver was up there to partner him.

That game on Saturday under Hughes would have been a what we have we hold scenario leading 1-0 at half time. No such thoughts under GA, push on and kill the game. It's as if League 2 football isn't rocket science.

Absolutely he was injured at Crawley - he landed early on and seemed to jar his knee. We were amazed he carried on because he could barely walk at one point

I have to admit that I was wrong, but in fairness there were a couple of matches where his poor play, due to his poor attitude cost us points - Stockport and Wrexham are the games I'm thinking of.

However, in fairness to him - we can see from his career that when he's managed correctly, i.e. not by Nigel Clough LOL!! - he is some player. And so fair play to Alexander who has found his 'on' switch and we are reaping the benefits.

If he keeps scoring at this rate, he'll waste away to nothing. Must be down to 10 stone now....;)

How frustrated must Oliver be? Every time he's ready to come back into the side, Cook starts to find his best form. When he's out injured, Cooks form takes a dip. I wonder if we'll ever see the best of Oliver, or whether he'll need to move on for his own career? I'd imagine he's in a good wage too.
