Andy Cook (with Poll)

Perhaps there’s something in the return of goalscoring for of Cook that his direct competitor is now available?? Also Cook looks fit again, so for sure that’s an impact as well.

agree Oliver must be frustrated but he’ll play his part for sure this season if he stays fit.

 

You might say that knowing he has “competition” is the catalyst ?

 

I think we must all accept that players have lean spells or times when for whatever reason they are not on it. It happens to the rest of us at work I’m sure too. As for Cook, the lean spells are few and far between. It usually isn’t long before he’s back on form! Great to see him amongst the goals yet again! He’s becoming one of the all time club legend, and rightly so.

 

Those that claim Andy is overweight miss that he uses it to bully defenders and push them around using his weight and stature to create space and chances for himself and others, It is not a determent to his game as he can still be fully fit, Those that doubt size and weight look at Ade Akinfenwa who was a man mountain but scored game after game and lasted 90mins despite been huge

Yeah, back in my youth I carried a bit of extra padding - but was still a Sunday league Ronaldo!

 

I think due to the new training regime fitness levels of the whole squad has improved by a lot and that includes Cook and extra fitness means sharper minds and reactions

 

He scores how he wants, he scores how he wants...

 

My lad who was about 7 at the time , thought Rhys Evans was called three sevens, it did sound like that over the tannoy.

15% goal conversion and 38% shot accuracy... The service is there but he is just a poor striker, He shouldn't be in the starting 11

And on tomorrows news….. Bradford City are in L2 and employ players on £360,000 a week with a similar conversion rate ! Look at Ollie Watkins ?

 

Please get rid asap.. wastes soo many chances, just falls over and complains, never makes the run.. and immobile terrible player

I said a long time ago that Cook is a great finisher but a poor footballer. You can't argue with the goals he's scored in recent times but where have they got us? Recently he's in one of those troughs where he contributes little to the effectiveness of our attack. The game even at our level, is all about pace and mobility and he offers neither. Unless we have loads of those qualities around him he's pretty much a passenger and at the moment we don't. If we got a good offer for him in this window I'd take it and look to construct a side that wasn't so completely dependant on a type of player who, in all honesty, is something of a throwback to an earlier time.

 

For me Tuesday would be a good game to give him a break and give Oliver a start. When Cook gets into these spells every little thing that doesn't go his way annoys him and the head goes down. The missed penalty won't help him so like last season i think it's now the time to put him on the bench for a few games.
