A point is something, but we need to start picking up the odd unexpected win away from home. Look at Argyle today, i know peterborough aren’t unbeatable but really Burton and Wycombe, 3 points at one would have been a real bonus and not beyond the realms of possibility. We should have a mindset that we can go and win these games, obviously that will come if we can keep unbeaten but throw in the odd ‘southend’ and it starts looking really tough again. Need to follow up with a win really, we need to put another wee run together. Unless we want it to go to the wire.

Putting any pre-conceived ideas aside, and viewing the game for what it was on the day, that was 2 points dropped. My Wycombe supporting mates freely admit that City should have won that game, 2 points missed out on, dropped, whatever phrase you want, we should have had 3 points today.

Went in the Wycombe bar after the game, heard from a trust board member that they ran out of pies (after 40 minutes!) because they were working to an estimate of 300 away fans - ridiculous. O’Conner and Payne were their standouts for us, probably have to agree.

Doyle is the best option we’ve got. Though it might be worth pushing Ball further forward and sticking Butterfield in for Wood.

It was kind of his fault or his agents. Demand big wages, expect big expectations

People are on about another forward to effectively give him chances but he’s missing chances regularly as it is. Some of those chances i would expect a striker to put away.

We’re third from bottom and have played a game more than others around us. Pardon me for feeling a little bit worried at our predicament.

They may have deserved three point but looking at the respective teams and their records it was definitely a point gained

Fordy, to be clear our mindset was right today - just lacked a killer instinct in front of goal. Wycombe have only lost 4 of 16 home games and are well above us so 2 pts dropped is a harsh assessment

You say that, but we did get out of the relegation zone very, very briefly, then sunk right back into it ;)

Once we have a four or five point cushion, I'll stop worrying so much.

On here you always get the usual ‘glass half full/empty’ style of poster plus the ‘my glass is cracked/someone has stolen it’ style of posts. Apart from the horrendous Southend display, then since the beginning of December results have dramatically improved. Given that Barnsley and Sunderland are clear promotion candidates (along with Luton who turned us over at the end of November), then the pattern of win at home, draw away has been established.

Given the remaining 15 fixtures, if you accept that Portsmouth away and Luton at home are potential zero points, Then the remaining 13 fixtures could yield 25 points with a win at home draw away sequence. Throw in some away defeats then 20 points is still very possible, which could see us to safety.

I think people have to ‘get real’, we are doing better than under the previous regime. As you say with Butterfield and Clarke having time on the training pitch, then the team can get stronger.

Would have felt more confident if we had brought in an experienced centre forward, At the moment we have two number 10s playing one of which plays in the centre forward role but is unable to play it well, We lack that physical presence and ability to hold the ball up top when needed,

Agreed. But they're a hell of a lot better than defeats. Every point counts. But in the context of a game we should have won a draw was undoubtedly disappointing.

Real shame the ref didn't see that handball on the line. A goal from the pen and a big chunk of the game against ten men and we'd have won it.

We had the better of the game, I felt. Even during their better spells at the start and end they never really looked very threatening. Our much maligned defence held up well, including your bogeyman O'Connor, and I thought Akpan had another decent game.

The improvement in position, as in out of the bottom four with a bit of daylight, was always going to be realistically end of March at best

    Several reasons for this;
    1. Pressure on the team, means that it's harder to show true form - meaning there's often a step or two back, i.e. Southend
    2. We were surrounded by 'decent' teams - I'll be amazed if Bristol Rovers, Oxford or Plymouth get relegated - this meant we were actually closing teams 10 points or more above us
    3. After the Luton match, we were 9 off Rochdale, 10 off Shrewsbury and 13 off Walsall. Not forgetting we were 7 behind Scunthorpe, Oxford and Gillingham!!.

If we can keep going at the same rate, inevitably we'll pass most of these - bearing in mind though we need three of these to be behind us!!

Yes, I'd noticed that too. Sometimes it does work, usually if Doyle or Miller are able to exert enough pressure on the CB that they head it upwards or sideways. But sometimes it fails spectacularly - Southend at home being a case in point - where their giant CBs were so dominant that they were able to make firm, controlled headers and the ball just kept coming back at us at pace. But still we kept relentlessly doing it, to zero effect.
I'm not saying we should never hit it long. But with the number of comfortable ball players we now have it ought to be possible, and productive, to mix it up a bit.

We are no further forward ? Nothing about the players we've "bungled" through the door makes me any more confident of getting anything at Wycombe. Nothing's changed. In Hopkin I don't trust he's shown himself up badly in this window and in his inept decision making in recent games.
