As I posted the baffling part is why she was not swayed to confirm she'd had the virus at the end of her doctors appointment, and then possibly tested those she'd been in the company of over the Christmas period.

It was several weeks after Christmas that she had the doctors appointment so they were testing, mybe not on a massive level but it made so much sense to test her.

Was just about to post the same after talking to a pharmacist at work who works for a hospital too as does her husband. Both trusts are running at less positive antibody tests than they thought, one at about 5%, there were expecting 25-35%, and the other about 10% but they were expecting just less than 50%.

think the earliest confirmed case is after Christmas as they weren’t testing.

There is a choir where a number of them had it around Baildon after a member went to China, think that was ore Christmas

was she at the Dr whilst ill with it or weeks after? The test at the time only shows if you have it then, not previously. For that she would need the antibody test

No as I posted it was several weeks after Christmas, yet the doctor said if he had taken a test he believed it would have shown she'd had Covid that was my point, maybe it would have been an antibody test ?.

maybe he meant if he had tested her at the time of her virus. The antibody test wasn’t available then, so the only test available was the one to see if you have it at the time of the test.

This weekend, I spoke to a(n unknown) York hospital nurse who said they had hardly anyone test positive, too. It seemed a bit odd but she also said they were never short of PPE and it had "not been that busy" in the hospital after a surge in Covid-19 admissions a bit before lockdown. She said it was getting busier with normal patients coming in again now.

I think the question is - do we think the numbers from anywhere are reliable? I did my observation was only on rough numbers anyway.

I tend to disregard the loss of smell symptom. Anosmia/phantosmia are well known symptoms of severe stress and I reckon 2/3rd of the population were severely stressed at some point in recent months and if you went into hospital with Covid-19, you would be extremely stressed. Therefore, it's possible the virus itself does not cause anosmia but the stress associated with catching it or worrying about catching it. There were no reports of people with covid-19 having anosmia BEFORE lockdown, only DURING lockdown. Putting loss of distortion of smell as a Covid-19 symptom could lead to diagnosing some people with Covid-19 when they are actually just very stressed.

    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/09/130924174150.htm

I had Covid-19 symptoms in Dec/Jan with a week's dry cough and short fever that I partially recovered from for a couple of weeks before getting breathless and going into 3 weeks of pneumonia with a shocking wet cough and bacterial infection where I felt I was drowning at night. I then had another month of occasional coughing as I recovered very slowly and was rather tired. It was nearly 3 months in all with first symptoms on Dec 10th. I saw the doctor at the start of the breathless phase in January where a slight temperature was still observed, oxygen read okay at the second attempt, and a virus was diagnosed with rest prescribed.

The hospitals are empty because they're sending all the infected sick people to care homes.
The NHS and the government have been an absolute disgrace in tecway they have treat carehome patients and staff .
There will be a lot of people taking this further.

Not that I want to put myself in any danger with regards this Covid-19 but I'm fortunate I have no other underlying health conditions but more and more are saying they had a flu type symptoms over the Christmas period.

Both the NHS and you guys in care/nursing homes have been bloody marvelous, many living on site so they kept the chance of getting it and spreading to your aged users has been over and above.

I would wholly concur with your first paragraph. Likewise my daughter said that her trust had pre-empted the situation a bit and were never short of PPE, although some of it had been donated from schools etc. Her ward had been converted to a covid ward (not intensive care) but mostly had some free beds throughout the peak, even though anyone with a temperature was admitted as a covid patient

Interesting graphic for US states - note how those that got it before lockdown are not getting it again after lockdown. Herd immunity effect, perhaps?
