Every day seems to bring increasingly extreme announcements and I wonder where it will all end up. Personally, I feel the football authorities are seriously in denial about the gravity of the situation and are floundering. I can see extreme measures coming very soon and lasting a very long time. If that happens football, and all sport, will cease to have any relevance, as has happened in Italy, and we must all prepare for a long time without it. There is no way any more football will be played this season and it looks like next season is seriously compromised. What happens about tv contracts, player contracts, competitions and club survival is anybody's guess. What does the future hold for Bradford City? When will we all meet again at Valley Parade?

This season will be finished. When, no one knows but if football starts again they will finish this one off first

Cheapest option is to finish this one and if need be cancel next one, or curtail it

All players out of contract in the summer will be unemployed. We'll still have to pay the wages of those still in contract but how do we do that with no income? Rupp may bail us out but he may not, in which case we'll go under. The same will apply to every club.

I also don't see them finishing this season. It would be an afterthought.

Unless it all unravels in the next few weeks of course....

It has little bearing on us and probably most lower league clubs except maybe those who occupy the play-of positions. But so what? It would be an annoyance for the likes of Swindon and Coventry but in the bigger scheme of things but there's always next season.

But for others, particularly in the upper and lower echelons of the PL (and potentialy for a couple of clubs in the Championship) there are mega millions involved. Who would go into the next Champions League if it's all declared void where there's a £100m at stake? Or the Europa league or who gets promoted to the PL where a season in the PL is worth £190m in Sky money? They are big decisions for somebody with big consequences for the clubs involved. And it's not just an issue for England. It's the same in Spain and Italy and Germany which is why UEFA and FIFA are already in discussion with the football governing bodies - that's Sky and not the FA in England - and the PFA! And one item on the agenda is whether all contracts and registrations which are due to expire in June should be extended for a couple of months by default.

I'm confident there will be an outcome which some clubs will like and some clubs won't and who will care what the fans feel about it. But I don't believe that simply ignoring this season will be the answer.

It really wouldn’t be to bad for us to play as our defenders do keep two metres away from the opposition.

They can’t force them to do that, players may agree to for example Willian has hinted he would but it’s easy for them to say that now but there will certainly be implications for them if they did agree to do so

I would argue that things like the Bosman ruling makes blocking free agents from signing with another club illegal

they stop people signing during season even if they have been released unless they were released in the window.

People are so getting things twisted and it's extremely embarrassing.

This obsession with next season. Next season can start when this season is finished. Even if it finishes in 2021. The only thing you change is a date.

This season in England is nearly finished in even Ryan came out and said that even though our form is bad we could still finish in the play offs. Who is going to decide where clubs finish? The only way to decide is to end the season when we can and if that's June, July or Dec it really doesn't matter but it has to finish. Even if it means a game every 2-3 days it needs to finish.

The key question is do we finish it with a crowd or behind closed doors. In the PL that's not a big problem but lower leagues the EFL will need to step in.

Then players contracts - players get paid a months notice even if they agree a contract with another club. So if the contracts run out on the 30th of June then they get 4 weeks pay from the club. So end of July is really the cut of date for contracts.

I think the contracts are easy. Clubs will pay monthly rolling contracts until the season ends. If a player wants out then out he goes but most will want to see out the contract.

Euro 2020 is now next year and is still going to be called Euro 2020. I think that's the hint to clubs that the dates can stay the same if you want but get the season done.

Right now, we all want sport back on tv but for the next 3 months at least we all just need to try to get control of this virus. Next season really shouldn't be in the mindset, just this one as it will highlight we are moving on from these dark times.

It’s not really the same situation. They aren’t prevented from joining another club outside the window, it’s just league regulation that the league won’t register them if the contract is cancelled between windows without them applying for special dispensation which requires both the league and original club giving the OK. They can move to a different country or to a league in the same country that is operated by a different entity, for example city players could drop to the national league. That’s different to a contract expiring though, if your contract runs out they can join a club in any league
