Yes, it was Limmared (Sweden) away in a pre-season friendly in 1989. It was City's last match away in a six match tour of Sweden. All the other City fans had to leave after the fifth match, to get the ferry back in time for a home match two days later. Because I'd flown over I was able to get back in time after the sixth match.

City had a few minor injury problems, so they were struggling to make up the numbers. The final place on the bench came down to Norman Hunter or me and (for some strange reason) Terry picked Norman and he got a run out in the second half.

Still, I was treated as part of the squad for the evening, attending the post-match meal with our hosts and travelling back to Gothenburg on team coach (there a few untold stories from that). I've still got the badge that the host club gave out to each member of the squad.

That was the closest I ever got to playing for my team. It means I can always say how, if I'd got on, I would have scored a screamer from 35 yards whereas, of course, I would have probably made a complete fool of myself.

Once all this is sorted, I will renew, however I totally get what you're saying. I've not missed going to VP, it'd become a chore, I was going out of pure loyalty to the institution of our club itself ( not that shite on the pitch) not enjoyment.

Well it’s stupid to ease the lockdown right now. We have other countries doing it and we should be waiting to see what happens with them. If it gets eased too soon and we end up having to go into a second one it’s going to do more damage than if we stay in a lockdown

8382 posts in and you are still acting like those you hate-a politician.

    Make a statement.
Get asked to clarify it/provide tangible evidence.
Come back with a glib non answer. Deflect and deny. Talk bullshit.

Make another statement etc etc etc

Now who does that remind you of? Yes Mr "inject disinfectant to protect you from Covid -19 himself" DJ Trump.

I have freely and without request for reward emailed the club with a money making idea. No strings.

The only embarrassing thing around here is you and your self entitled attitude.

I honestly can't see football returning this year , even played behind closed doors and televised would cause major problems , i know of at least 1 city fan ( friend ) who as sadly passed away due to this horrible virus . Until a vaccine is found life will not return to normal . i miss all my friends at VP both at the match and on North Parade , i have also been unable to visit my elderly mother for 6 weeks , i live a fair distance from Bradford , but i think protecting both my family and friends is at this moment in time more importent than football . I would imagine there will be a slight relaxation in the lockdown agenda , but i'm affraid to say spectator sports will be low down on the governments priority list . Anyway thats my thoughts on the subject , stay safe fellow City fans , and hope to see you all again soon .

The problem is, the last time we went to war and the leagues cancelled, was eighty odd years ago, way before player contracts, kit sponsors, kit manufacturers, Sky Sports, BT Sports and a whole load of other vultures that need feeding. The sad thing, such is the state of English football, that it relies on all those I have mentioned to function. If these sponsors all dig their heels in, not to mention the clubs getting lawyers involved, then I can't see football continuing even after it's deemed safe to do so. Sadly, unlike eighty years ago - football is now all about who can get the most money out of it.

No matter how the PL and FL try to manoeuvre things, the likelihood is this season will be null and void, with the exception perhaps, of Liverpool being handed the title.
Football isn't bigger than life and death, despite what Shankly said. It's just a game.

Now, football can easily be synchronised over the next two/three years to juggle fixtures, and the seasons will eventually slot back into the normal dates.
However, logistically it's a nightmare, players contracts can't be juggled to fit into rearranged fixtures.

Many players, and club staff will not want to come back to clubs, whilst there's the health risk attached to this virus.
Aguero is tucked up in Argentina with his girlfriend, a safely locked down millionaire, and he won't be going anywhere corvid tests or not, until it's eradicated or there's a vaccine.
Same will go for many league two players, health comes before a footie game

The economy will slowly open, but pubs and football won't be one of them

Every cloud and all that though, just look at east of Pudsey haha

Points per game, with goal difference.
No relegation or promotion to or from PL
£127.8 mill PL parachute payments which wouldn't be paid should be given to L1 & L2 clubs
    L1 £2,928,750
    L2 £2,396,250
That should keep them going 'til the new season starts. They would need to be some kind of regulation to ensure the cash was used to keep the clubs going rather than repaying Directors loans etc.

You don’t think that might simply be to protect patient confidentiality? There’s no reason why clubs should name players who’ve tested positive, publicly.

Nobody in their right mind would suggest putting up prices at this moment in time, it would be business suicide. But, in the future, they do have to go up to give the manager (whoever he/she is) the best competitive budget available. I keep hearing self sustainability but if you want sustainability and a competitive side then be prepared to fork out more than £150 a season. The old adage you get what you pay for has never been so true.

Here’s the situation as I understand it and you can correct me if you think I’m wrong. Rupp falls asleep at the wheel, and allows his business partner to go on a mass spending spree resulting in a £1.8M loss. He temporarily injects cash into the club to stop his complacently from folding us over (whooop whoop! He’s investing in us!) and is by accounts using the Mcburnie money to sort out the rest of his self inflicted mess. What have I missed?

Technically, I guess you’re right, he probably did inject his own money into the club whilst we needed the cash flow to keep us ticking over. Here’s why no one cares.
    1. This is Rupp’s fault you begin with. If I drive at 80mph on a 30, crash into some else’s car and then pay for the damage am I a man of moral integrity or should I not have been a tit in the first place?

    2. Any investment he might have made he’s ultimately undone by depleting our last major asset. £3M should be used to fund a promotion push into the Championship, not bail out a man with 10’s of millions in the bank.

It’s embarrassing how even now some are prepared to defend him to the hilt. In case it’s escaped you, we’ve gone backwards under his ownership. Bring us success, actually invest in the club and my opinion might change. In the meantime, he’s done nothing to warrant the praise you’re giving him.

Re; Gary Neville. Top top bloke, hated him as a player. But he puts his money where his mouth is. Opened up his hotel to NHS staff and is carrying on paying his staff full pay. I also saw on Twitter that he’d given a few quid to Brighouse Town to help them through this crisis...He hasn’t forgotten his roots.

This is a proper statement and update from a club executive. Meanwhile we get the odd comment from the media guy.

I can see your point and it would be nice for it to come back. It’s a massive industry and it keeps people sane etc. But that’s the football we know. Not this dire alternative they are planning to bring back with no contact at corners and face masks.

It will only be brought back for the greedy and the tv companies. It disgusts me but I know there are people who think differently. And fair play to them. We all need something to do but the whole country and industry after industry is close to going to the wall and some may not be allowed to reopen until the end of the year. Football can take it’s place in that list for me. And that’s from someone who will watch every game going that’s on tv

I don't think Sky care less about any league other than the Premier League. So in that case, the top division will be ok, and the reason most clubs want to get into that league is the money it brings. If Leeds for example, don't get promoted, then not only do they miss out on the massive money that comes from it, but also their current sponsors and kit manufacturers miss out from the exposure of being in the top flight. A good mate of mine over here in Tallinn, owns a bit coin betting company. He was in very advanced negotiations with Leeds last season for being their shirt sponsor. When Leeds season imploded, he set his sights elsewhere. His company is now the shirt sponsor of Watford. It's all about the Premiership and the TV listings. Leeds will no doubt start loss of earnings claims against the FA or whoever because of the revenue they'd missed out on (and probably already budgeted for), not to mention players leaving because they've proved they are good enough to get into the Prem, but aren't getting the chance to play there. Expect to see Prem teams cherry picking players from Leeds and West Brom, because teams lower than the Premiership are now financially weakened.

I have to say, I just can't get my head around all the implications, and I do not envy the body of people who have to make the final decision.

If that happens there will be uproar. Ok so key workers get tested, quite right but what about the rest who need to get back to normal jobs, normal one man businesses, schools and unis?
As for us over 70s we just get ignored and risk death just so some self important people get to kick a ball around. Don't think so, if that happened the Govt would loose a massive number of votes in my view.
