Liverpool will win the league no matter what,so that nonsense. Not fussed about them. Bradford is my club.

As, for Bradford going under, as I said the virus isn't going away and if we still haven't started football in June/July then we won't in Sept/Oct. it's just a just thought process.

Football will be being closed doors for at least 6-12 months and it's going to hit clubs hard at all levels but like all other industries it needs to find a way to live with the virus and get through this.

No point putting me on ignore. I will just stop posting for a while.

I just disagree with many and voice it.

I lost my dad recently but let me tell you, I would love to sit down with him now and watch footy or go to game and of course the big things are important but it's the little things that people remember doing and certainly in times like this. Football is just a little important thing that plays a massive part.

Much love to you all, stay safe and I will be back soon.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

I miss football. I miss the "normality" it brings (normally us losing!). Generally, if I've got nothing to do on an evening, there is a game of football to watch. Even better if it's the "bonus" of us playing on a Tuesday night. I miss that. I miss that on Saturdays, I have a structured plan that I've had for ages. That involves watching/listening to Bradford on an afternoon. I miss that. I miss logging onto this site, and reading the match reports and opinions of others after the game. I miss logging on here on a Thursday and reading/adding to the debate of who should be in the starting eleven. I miss chatting football with my mates.

Sounds like I have nothing else going on in my life. But I do, I have shit loads. It's the normality of football that makes all the other stuff special, or it's the normality of football that makes everything feel "just right".

Strange times right now. Football may have lost its importance when all other things are falling apart around us, but I for one miss it very much, and it coming back (in whatever format) underlines that we are getting back to "normal".

Can't wait for that to happen.

I understand where you're coming from and 'football' and some other sports as well usually provide a good stabililising influence when lots of other things are going bonkers around us all. They are a good leveller for other sh!t. But with this crisis, it's made me realise that there are other things in life and, with apologies to Bill Shankly, football really isn't a matter of life or death. This current crisis is demonstrating too well that some other things are and other things should be taking priority in my life.

Yes, I miss the games, not because the football is great but there is always a chance that we might win and can all leave VP with a smile on our faces! But I've come to a realisation that's not why I really go. It's a chance to meet up with my friends for a meal and a drink in a pub somewhere - we all live at least an hour's drive from VP - and catch up with each other. It doesn't really need a visit to VP for that to happen but to date that's been the reason and we've all come to that same conclusion. If it wasn't for some social distancing and VP remained closed for some reason, we'd all be trying to meet up in any event. It's not football itself nor the the pilgrimage to VP which I miss; but I would miss not seeing my friends.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see football return to VP but I'm sanguine about when. If I could never get to VP when I wanted to, that would sadden me to some extent. But I've realised now that I have more important things to consider than that. Family and friends will take priority.

I honestly can't see football returning this year , even played behind closed doors and televised would cause major problems , i know of at least 1 city fan ( friend ) who as sadly passed away due to this horrible virus . Until a vaccine is found life will not return to normal . i miss all my friends at VP both at the match and on North Parade , i have also been unable to visit my elderly mother for 6 weeks , i live a fair distance from Bradford , but i think protecting both my family and friends is at this moment in time more importent than football . I would imagine there will be a slight relaxation in the lockdown agenda , but i'm affraid to say spectator sports will be low down on the governments priority list . Anyway thats my thoughts on the subject , stay safe fellow City fans , and hope to see you all again soon .

French football will be cancelled with immediate effect. Government say it is not a priority and cannot guarantee safety. Brilliant decision and it makes sense and good a top footballing nation has gone in with this mindset. They want to get the country back to normally first. Hospitality industry is more important and who can blame them? Thousands of lives lost and selfish greedy football fat cats only think of themselves.

I hope we follow suit. Football is secondary

The USA and UK are prioritising sport, and to be honest I can see why. I can see both arguments.

Don't get me wrong, I'm talking about elite sport, top level football, top level MMA, ironically top level WWE has also been prioritised in the US (WWE even held Wrestlemania behind closed doors), but then again there's no escaping the blatant fact that any nation, state or county prioritising certain sports is only doing so because of the money involved.

I can see the government wanting the PL back, because its a huge talking point and will serve as a convenient media deflection. I can see the demand to the PL too, because of the commercial implications of ending the season now. Their motivation is entirely financial.

Neither of which make the plans being proposed, viable.

I think that there is an argument for getting sport, and particularly football in this country, back up and running as a signal of a return to where we were pre-virus. It is mass entertainment, people enjoy it (broadly) and it does provide a degree of escapism from everyday life.

However, I don't see it as a priority. Frankly, I will not be happy if footballers are being given tests on a regular basis while key workers are not.

That's a great point about tests, or perhaps some form of PPE, football isn't a priority for those things in any way shape or form.

However I do believe sport can be done safely behind closed doors, we just need to know we/the government are properly equipped to do it, and right now, I wouldn't be assuming we are in good hands.

I can see your point and it would be nice for it to come back. It’s a massive industry and it keeps people sane etc. But that’s the football we know. Not this dire alternative they are planning to bring back with no contact at corners and face masks.

It will only be brought back for the greedy and the tv companies. It disgusts me but I know there are people who think differently. And fair play to them. We all need something to do but the whole country and industry after industry is close to going to the wall and some may not be allowed to reopen until the end of the year. Football can take it’s place in that list for me. And that’s from someone who will watch every game going that’s on tv

A big question is will live Premier League football broadcasted on a free to air basis improve national morale significantly?

I think the culture secretary was quoted saying there would be free to air premier league games, yes.

ONS today announced excess deaths (spikes above trend from unusual causes, mostly flu) so far up to w/e 17th April were 27k of which Covid-19 deaths were 19k.

    https://www.newstatesman.com/2020/04/27000-more-deaths-normal-start-coronavirus-pandemic-ons-says

Average of last the 70 years looks to be just over 40k. In the 1950s and 60s, 60k excess each year was typical and that was on a 20% lower population.

Have we overreacted because we let the NHS shrink too much? The biggest difference between now and many years in the past is just that we are more mobile. Bugs spread more quickly now. SARS-CoV-2 has actually yet to prove itself to be more deadly - just faster so far.

With medical advances and instant access to information around the world, there aren't the same reasons for having spikes in death rates that there used to be.

Just like you account for inflation in financial matters, there is a definite case for 'deflation' in mortality that we would need to apply to any stats.
