I would add to that on a personal level, then seeing members of my Family and meeting up with friends, being able to travel out of my immediate area, Holidays, Museums, Galleries, Shopping, So much of life has been affected.

We can all add things people will say work mates for crying out loud.

Football is just a realise in life but it's important to many. Just like golf. You can't compare it to going on holiday and seeing mates etc

I've already admitted that football is far less important to me than it used to be, on many occasions on this board. And that was before COVID. If the events of the last few weeks haven't brought a sense of perspective to everyone, I'd say you're not living in the real world. But then I'd probably say that about you anyway tbf Fordy.

It's getting to a point with you that I'm becoming convinced you're just intent on winding up other posters on here.

Quite right. The only bits of football I've really missed have been the social side of going to the pub, meeting a couple of mates and my old man, having a few beers and a catch up. Most of the games I watch even at PL level aren't great and I haven't missed City one jot.

In terms of what I've felt impacted by most, or miss the most, football is nowhere near the top of the list.

I honestly don't think he does. I think he's trying to be funny, or banter, and just lacking in any self awareness as to how it comes across.

Not at all. Football is a realise. It helps with people's mental state but you can't compare it to seeing family, friends etc.

It's just a hobby for most but it's important, as I say like golf if for millions.

How is that a wind up?

The talk around golf clubs is that courses could re-open mid-May, with new social distancing guidelines outlined by England Golf

I hope you're right although banter usually has an element of wit or humour. He has the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

I'm fully aware with that's going on but this is a football forum and I don't get why you need to be so negative about the game. If you don't want to see it back fine, it might not come back until a vaccine is found but many do.

I'm trying to give out banter or be funny. This forum is broken down well and other sections are available to discuss serious topics but many want the game back and all you posts are negative towards it happening.

I have no idea where it comes from, but occasionally, very occasionally, he posts a considered, insightful, even compassionate message.....but it gets lost in amongst all the b#ll#cks :grinning:

I don't get what I have said is wrong though.

Many want football, sport back but of course realise that other things are more important. Goes without saying for many that friends, family, holidays, wife, girlfriend, dog, cat is higher in the ranking but football is a mental realise and many go or watch it to take their minds off things and most want it back for them reasons.

Bantam Talk say the clicks or posting is down and that will be down to the lack of football not because of the lockdown. Football, golf is a relaxation even though it's frustrating it can give you mix emotions which people enjoy but you can't compare to other things.

If you want to dig me out for that post then fine.

You generally misunderstand or fail to grasp my points, but I'll try and summarise. Whilst its nowhere near the top of my list, it's not a case of not wanting it to return. I'd like it to return and I'm not negative about the game. I'm negative about the way in which UEFA, the FA, the PL and the EFL have gone about managing an albeit very difficult situation. I don't see the return plans as being viable or realistic and the only way I see of the game coming back over the next few weeks would be for a significant change in our understanding of how risky it would be, such that the controls and criteria can be more realistically applied. For example, if the return criteria mean players need to play in face masks and there need to be changes such as 'no contact at set pieces', then I don't think it'll work. And if it returns at a time when many other businesses are not given the chance to return, and/or testing is denied to front line workers but available to footballers and their support network, then I think its an immoral idea.

For the good of the game in the longer term and to safeguard the majority of the clubs, I'd end the season, plan for a new season to be played from Sept/Oct when conditions should make the return more viable and give everyone some certainty.

That's not negativity, its just a different opinion as to how best to handle the situation to protect a POSITIVE future for the game. You don't get it - but I don't know how else to explain it.

Maybe because you just keep repeating yourself but I agree that sometimes there is a tiny nugget of truth in what you try to put across..

I just disagree. I just don't see what Sep/oct return changes anything. The virus isn't going away and like I say many want a realise now and would love football back now.

Come Sept/oct you still wouldn't want the game to return.

I think we all would agree/realise that football can be a 'release' for a lot of us...

    No sh*t!

I want football back when its safe to do so, can be done in a viable manner, when it isn't given preferential treatment over industries for many, badly affected working class people and preferably, when crowds can either come back or fans can have some clarity over how they watch games in lieu of STs. I want clubs across the lower leagues protected, I want a degree of certainty over whether the game has a future beyond the next 3 months. If that can be done in June, then great, but I don't think it can.

By Sept/Oct, society and the game may have had a chance to adjust, all leagues and clubs can re-plan, and we'll have a much better handle on the risk and spread of the disease. And even then, I think its pushing it.

I'm also not convinced by your 'people need a release' point. In fact, I think your main motivation is seeing Liverpool win a league title. And I don't think you grasp how many lower league clubs would go under - quite possibly even Bradford City - if the league is forced to finish.
