I wonder whether this will trigger similar in the other big leagues? It's going to get very messy for the implications on European qualification next season. If there is European competition next season

 

Good point. The trends seem to track with advances in medicine and a better understanding of healthier lifestyle options. The other aspect of course, is that the death toll is presumably artificially low because of the measures implemented?

 

Yes, definitely agree - the argument that the death toll is low MUST factor in the measures the whole world has taken, though again quantifying it is difficult. There are graphs that illustrate a continuous exponential increase in cases had no action been taken, but who can guarantee their accuracy?

At the end of the day, though, there has been significant mitigation and arguments of low mortality rates and overreactions seem wide of the mark to me.

Certainly looks that way, FIFA saying no start until end of summer. As I've said to Fordy several times, this season will just end and new season 20/21 starts 21st November, it's so logical.

It's the logical conclusion to the progression of events by me only. The EFL will get there eventually but it will probably need the arrival of Dave Baldwin and an injection of his pragmatism.

 

For once a little bit of sense coming from the football fraternity. I think they are beginning to realise football is not imune to this world situation. I still don't think the Premier League has grasped the enormity of the situation and still believes its a law unto itself.

Personally I'd like it in front of 15000 at VP but the medics and Govt will decide not the football community. By then the Prem League will realise they are not running the Govt.
