It’s 80% until October and flexible if people want to return part time

The 50/50 part you have made up. In his statement Sunak said it will be tapered down yes to encourage going back to work but no decision has been made on the amount. I suggest you re-read

It's not. The scheme is until October but from August he will ask companies to start sharing the cost.

Yeah maybe but seriously no interest in what Danny Rose has to say when he doesn't he like the game. Many have to go into work and tough. Players moaning don't wash with me.. do you job or don't! No vaccine. It's not difficult.

No it isn't. Sunak simply said that employers will have to share some of the costs after July but without saying how or at what level. He's going to present the detail of how it will change in the next month or so.

One thing is clear. It won't remain at the 80% level for everybody after July.

Yeah I am not disputing that part. It is shared in August but no where does it say 50:50

I was just going off the BBC. Not heard what he said but sharing is 50/50 if you ask me.

However, I agree either way it's not 80% until October and it will be reduced in August.

    Just explained.

I'm concerned too many are counting on this now.

It will be reduced in August, 50/50, 60/40 it's getting reduced and it 100% is ending in October so don't count on it forever.

Hopefully, the self employed get support.

This is what you said 'Remember it's 50/50 from August'. No caveats, just a simple explicit statement.

Telling us all what the Chancellor had said isn't consistent with you not having heard him!

I feel it does but it's clear the government is trying to please all sectors.

I welcome the extended time because certain sectors are really struggling but nothing will change unless companies go out an make money.

Likely, the scheme will be reduced in August and decisions will made on them on them still.

the problem is, which the government seem to have acknowledged and you can’t, is that people can’t just go back to work at the click of a finger.
Schools are not reopen, people might be on the 12 weeks shielding list, other childcare issues. Some sectors can not reopen as advised by the government bars Etc etc.
That’s the problem. It’s not people are lazy and the chancellor even stated in his speech he does not have that concern about people replying on it.
The extension is the only and best way. The economy will slowly pick up with the phased changes.

Maybe, but redundancies will still happen and companies still need to make money.

Yes, the redundancies won't be as bad now but it will be in October if companies are not getting people back to work.

New office guidance will have to be be paid for and out goings will be high.

You might not be lazy but I believe some now will be making excuses not to go to work.

I am not on furlough and I am still working full time all be it from home. I feel very lucky to have that option but I am 99% certain the novelty of furlough has worn off for working people and they want that satisfaction for going out and working. But as I’ve said it’s not in their control at the minute so furlough must remain.

October is a key time really. The majority will have been back for a few months by then all being well and the government can see if it needs extending or not. Or possibly can keep it open for certain sectors if they are not reopen by then

It's ending in October for sure.

Businesses are now been told to be covid secure.

I just hope many are dragged back to work ASAP because this isn't a holiday.

In most cases I don't think it will be the individuals making excuses not to go to work. Let's face it, it's not their decision anyway. However I can see lots of companies choosing not to bring people back to work until October, and yes I see job losses too.
