Trying to deftly change your argument now. The fact is the furlough scheme and others are the best package anywhere to protect jobs. It’s obvious that there will still be many people laced off but many people will Owe their jobs to this.
The trouble with it is that it makes people feel comfortable and while the threat is here won’t want to hurry back

7m on Furlough and I will say 2 million will lose their jobs. Then some of the 5m will get lazy.

No extension for the self employed.

You're old enough to understand that this 8b a month will have to be paid for and those in the public sector better worry in a year from now.

But they can't choose to stay at home if the company wants them back they have to go. Its the companies holding all the cards and many will decide not to take everyone back

@Park bantam first reaction is to be positive without thinking about the pros and cons.

Companies will get rid of many. It could end end up being a Furlough car crash soon.

 

That’s right but they certainly won’t be rushing to go back because they are comfortably managing as are people who were already on universal credit who will be a hundred a pound Or so a month better off for a year.
I know of one person furloughed by his employer and his casual part time work he is not in a rush to go back.

 

In an interview the impressive Sunak only says as we go forward employers will need to start contributing and employees can work part time and the company can claim money. No figures have been mentioned but even if it is 50% it’s still very generous. There is also talk of supporting some businesses longer in areas like hospitality and holiday parks that have been worse affected

 

So Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are to stay at home. Sounds more like the World Cup Finals

 

But its not up to the emplyees whether they go back or not. It is completely in the hands of the employer
