When do we start to question Hopkin?

He needs to be given at least 2 transfer windows to sort out this shambles. These are not his players and in my opinion direct, physical football is the way to get results in this league. He needs the opportunity to get these types of players in and the soft twats out

 

Who does he play instead of O’Connor? Isherwood? Jesus.

I think he should have stuck to his guns and played the 3 at the back he wanted and got the players to play out from the back.

We couldn’t win and still can’t win for toffee. Could it get any worse? At least that way the players would be used to it when other new players came in who were used to it.

I would say he’s lost his confidence a bit with it. Maybe if he had his own backroom team in they would be able to work on it with him and make sure he stuck at it. At the minute we are on a shocking run and something has to change. 4 at the back clearly doesn’t work.

 

No manager or coach in tge world could get this team sorted.
No point continually sacking the coach if the playing staff are not good enough.

 

Fordy117 could get rid of managers faster than Edin I reckon

 

Two things are relevant.First, other "managers" have tried and failed so replacing him is likely to have same result.

Also,it's been said many times these aren't his players and it needs to be seen what happens in Jan but I'm not hopeful as I think we'll be left behind by then and more so if what we have think they'll be replaced so won't try if the negativity continues.

The poor performances along with injuries and suspensions which all seem suspect to me will no doubt confirm relegation.

 

Whilst not advocating that we sack Hopkin at the moment, and I can see why fans are saying that it is not his players. But, were the players Collins either?, and he was given much less time. Indeed, he was probably responsible for bringing in the Huddersfield lads, who are probably our best players.

Defeat to Aldershot next week, and you then have to seriously question Hopkin, if not already

 

The players were not responding to Collins and our results were poor. Masked by the fact teams were not up to scratch themselves. Had he still been here we would probably have less points.

 

Hopkin has only gained 4 points, I'm sure Collins would have at least matched that.
Now don't get me wrong, appointing Collins was madness and a panic move, but sooner or later we have to also question Hopkin's ability at this level

 

What do you suggest he changes? Just looking at the bench yesterday and for the last 3 weeks we have had one option to bring on when things don’t go our way.

The first xi is so nervous and low on confidence because every time the opposition go forward they either get a shot away or score. The players are probably worried about trying something different as we lose the ball we will

We have no pace in the wide areas and are having to shoe horn strikers into those positions to field a simple formation. We have one option up front in Doyle who is not a target man and then we have Brunker who we all know is not good enough.

Two of the worst and slowest Center backs we have ever had at the club and a generally slow back four apart from wood who was admittedly wrongly dropped yesterday.

The central midfield again is slow and we have no one who gets the game by the scruff of the neck like a Jones or even a Cullen who would do it with his passing ability. Is wright an attacking mid? Who knows. Akpan plays like he’s on the beach. The only one who is decent is O’Brien but he’s 19 and inexperienced and needs someone alongside him giving him orders.

We can question how he is doing at times and I agree, but what are his options to change things? Anyone who might have some continuity gets injured or suspended and we then bring in crap replacements and we lose again

 

He has been very critical of the players attitude and capacity to learn from their mistakes in previous games - if the players at least put the effort in I think he has to try and build up the players confidence and talk them up as they are rock bottom. Fordy, this is a shocking team which was not of Hopkin's building and whilst he has not perhaps had the desired impact at the club to date, who the hell do you think is going to come in to the club with all the off field issues and players we currently have and make a difference? You can slam DH but what is the alternative you are proposing!?

I also think we are due some luck, we seem to be on the back of key decisions every single week and not one major call has gone our way - I know we cant blame refs for how poor we are but we are being kicked in the nuts every single week and surely if these things average out (as we are always told is the case) we are due a change of fortune.

 

With this collection of miss fits cobbled together by " I know football " Houdini couldn't pull us out this mess, for me give Hopkin till the end of the season with the back room team he wants, less face it who else would want to join this circus

 

You can’t judge him until he’s made a few signings of his own the squad is shit with everyone fit never mind with a dozen injuries

 

As I said earlier in this thread, I am not saying we should sack Hopkin, yet.
However, the fact remains, that he has taken us from lower mid table to being cast adrift at the bottom of the pile, not exactly a ringing endorsement, no matter what squad he has inherited.

We forget the penalties we've had. A decent number for a team bottom of the league. The one at Fleetwood was dubious to say the least.

I think it's clutching at straws because we're so poor. We look for reasons and the easy excuse is the referee's decision we didn't get.
