When do we start to question Hopkin?

Also Parky had an enormous bit of luck. A young unknown striker who his predecessor didn't really want was still with us(thanks mainly to Dave Baldwin) and Parky saw that there was something there to work with and cajole. A defensive system only works when you can do something at the other end.

I’d go one further and if we play 4 at the back I’d play Mellor at right wing and wood at left wing. Double on wide men and stop the rot. Ultra defensive but we need to start getting something. Or maybe Mellor at right wing and Payne with license to roam on the left

Parky used to do that a bit with Reid and McCall with Marshall/Law

 

We have to stop conceding goals for fun. Fix that bit first and then look to work on the attacking side

The other thing Parky had in his favour was that he was able to bring in reinforcements through the loan market. I seem to recall Andrew Davies and Kyel Reid coming in around that time. Hopkins hands are pretty much tied. I agree our situation calls for pragmatic football and as an absolute priority setting us up not to lose, however horrible it may be to watch. Unfortunately I believe we have collectively the worst back 4/5 I have ever seen and absolutely zero cutting edge up front whoever plays!

Hopkin has undoubtedly made some questionable decisions but in my view we are seeing a guy desperately trying to shuffle a woefully sub standard pack.

We need a miracle to stay up regardless of who the head coach is. Let's see what January brings and if at the very least DH can give us some hope and optimism for next season regardless of what division we are in.

 

While I agree that the defence is poor I think some of it does come down to confidence and injuries.

The attackers on the other hand should be doing far more and I hold Hopkin responsible for not getting a tune out of them.

Most clubs in this division would bite your hand off for just one of those players. Not just that but these lads will be on good wages for this level. This is why unless we send Miller or Ball back then we will struggle to afford a decent target man this Jan.

 

Sicknote Scannel would be the first out of the door for me..

 

Kyel Reid was out of contract. Not on loan.

 

Hopkin should have brought a target man in 10 weeks ago. It was obvious from day one that the ball was coming back too quickly.

 

We'd all take a couple of goalless draws right now.

What would be the point in sacking him now? A) Who in the right mind would take the job?
B) The exact same thing would play out all over again, someone comes in, takes a few weeks to realise we're beyond all hope, keeps losing, fans call for head...
