The bulls were at the top of their game during that period of success, they used to training down at Apperley Bridge, their training methods were way ahead of what Citys were, we used to watch them both when skiving off in the works van. Carl Jennings was the conditioning coach and he brought a lot of innovative new training methods that were widely used in other countries, and also a lot dietary work aided with what was a growing supplements business at the time. Its like anything, the more you put into these players in terms of coaches and facilities, the extra you will get out of them. Thats why clubs like Man City build state of the art training centres and don't train at their local private school. Even clubs like Leicester are doing it, i know its off the back of massive success and i certainly don't expect to see Bradford build anything of their own, probably not in my life time. But to move forward you have to think outside the box and a long term plan is essential to the long term possible future of this club. As Faithful alludes to, get the other sporting agencies involved, give Bradford something to be proud of and aspire to decades down the line rather than flapping about in the lower league like our sporting outfits currently do.

Strangely I’m not really bothered by it, maybe due to the 18 months of pure shiteness that preceded it.
In fact, if anything I’m the opposite, I wish we could fast forward and crack on with next season now. For no justifiable reason I’m looking forwards to next season.
From this season, no hope has become a little bit of hope!Rudie, Craven Cottager, Ollylondonbantam and 1 other person like this. -
I'm really strangely not even bothered in the slightest. Think I subconsciously resigned myself to our fate a long time ago, maybe even before those season if I think about it.
I not optimistic about next season though either. All I can envisage is more soundbite excuses about being "everyone's cup final" and more disillusioned fans who think it's easy to get out of league two while ignoring the fact we spent about 6 years down there last time.Mike Hunt, Tony Wilkinson, Bronco and 1 other person like this. -
Numb really. It’s obviously been on the cards for a while. But when I think back to when we beat Northampton at Wembley, I genuinely thought we’d seen the back of league 2 forever.

If that had been delivered, what a difference it would have been compared to the reality of next season. And if we are to rely next season on this season's 'fight and spirit', I expect it to be another miserable season.
I sort of understand why you might be feeling more optimistic than I do but uncontained optimism still needs to be tempered with some realism.QCFC BANTAM, Interested Bystander, Onside and 1 other person like this. -

It means to me lost interest in our club, not by me but the wider general public of Bradford.
We may have sold 13 thousand season tickets for div 4 football but if we don't get up Quickly,13 becomes 10 and the downward spiral takes us back to the bad old days of bradford city staying in the lower leagues and the next generation of fans becoming Man U,Liverpool or dare i say it L**ds supporters.
It is another hit in the decay of sport in bradford which also saddens me,for a city our size we should be doing miles better in terms of where we are now.Jayteebee, Ponty City, BSABantam74 and 1 other person like this. -

It is what it is. I don't have to like it, but I do accept it -- after all, I wouldn't ask the club to refuse a promotion when they've earned it... We've no God-given right to unbroken success, and it would be rather naive or arrogant to expect or demand that.
What makes this relegation so maddening though is that it is completely self-inflicted, and so unnecessary. To go from what we had to this in two years took a special kind of genius... whether little more than a conman or just a deluded enthusiast promoted well above his level of incompetence I can't decide. I'd like to think we can bounce straight back up, but my head says it will take a few years to undo the damage.
We are indeed a third-tier side, historically speaking, then a second-tier one, and only then a fourth-tier one -- if we come back up within three seasons we'll still have played more matches in the second tier than the fourth -- though I'd agree with those who suggest we should be a comfortable second-tier side, with the odd forays up or down. We were so close to the chance to become just that...

Back in May 1985 we had football in a HIGHER division to look forward to the following season but we were all far more depressed about things than we have any right to feel now. What happened in 1985 puts things in perspective.RonnieBrown, Buggleskelly, River_City_Bantam and 1 other person like this. -
Completely avoidable relegation, hurts more as its so self inflicted. On the flip side, Rahic got the boot very quickly after Rupp learned what was really going which gives me faith Rupp is genuine about rebuilding the club. Also weve got Bowyer for two years all being well. as much as hes not got a tune out of the current squad, from what I'm reading/hearing he only wants to keep 3 players which is enough to earn my qualified support until we start to see some outgoings.
All in all we 1000% shouldn't be in this position, but the main reason we are is gone and if we can stay positive and shift the wage thieves out asap I think we'll be ok. As much as we've said it before, the next two windows are vital for us in clearing out the dead wood as quickly as we can. That more than anything else will determine our level of success next season. And this isn't even considering how much Edin tore up behind the scenes, which I imagine will also take a while unless those that left(not the racist kit man he can stay at home) can be persuaded to come back?Onside, Bronco, River_City_Bantam and 1 other person like this. -

This Forum is becoming a place for angry and disillusioned ex city supporters. There is no constructive debate, and now we have insults flying around. I really don’t want this board to go the way that other Forums have gone. After the season we have just had, some understanding of fans feelings would be great.

Hard to express how Im feeling about relegation as Im a bit numb.
Maybe it'll hit me when the fixtures are released.
I called this club would go backwards when Mr Rahic came to the club.
It's hard to offer such opinion when your heart wants your head to be wrong.
I fear another season of struggle to endure, too many losers still under contract. To shift them, a big slice of budget will be required, this is too tough a job to sort quickly.
IF we can survive next year then we'll see the green shoots of revival 20/21.
So, onto today, I'll try my best to let those losers on the pitch know I dont want them here next season. That isn't a case of not backing the team, it's a case of me doing my bit to try give us a greater chance of survival next season.Ricc, The Evidence, Bronco and 1 other person like this. -

I’m more surprised that a Mod known for zero tolerance ‘liked’ the post instead of warning the poster for the attack.
