We are traditionally a 3rd tier club. I think a city of our size with a fanbase and decent ground such as ours should have aspirations of the 2nd tier as our home. We were steadily progressing towards that and we've probably put any realistic hope of achieving that aim about 5-10 years into the future. That's pissed me right off.

You look at the Championship and the teams we'd be playing every week. Thousands of visiting fans, brilliant atmosphere, excellent standard of football, guaranteed entry into the third round of the cup so potential Premier league opponents. Its one of the best leagues in Europe and we were on the cusp.

Contrast that to next season and get angry.

Its just another period in me supporting Bradford City, if we enjoy the few good times then we have to accept the bad times.
13,000 have accepted the situation we don't have to like it but its hardly the end of the world.

You probably couldn’t come up with a shitter comparison if you tried! Don’t relate what happened in 85 to the events of the past 12 months.

When it was confirmed yesterday, it had the impact of a shrug of the shoulders on me. In the past, relegations seemed to have had more impact on me. I put this down to a season long inevitable feeling it would happen after the madness of last summer.

I am strangely looking forward to seeing Bowyer rebuild us in league 2, with hopefully a squad of players we can bond with, in the same way Parky's teams mainly had with us

You say you are not interested, yet come on here at Midnight on a Saturday night to spout yet again how you wont be watching league 2 again, yet watch 5th, 6th and 7th tier football.
Think weve got the message Abbomf, so enjoy your non league tour next season.

Its like the top trump card, 'hey its relegation, not mass death, look on the bright side!' Always feel uneasy when anyone uses the fire in a comparison.

I’m pissed off we’ve been relegated and in 35 years watching City have never felt such contempt for the squad that I have felt this season......but it will only take a few players being released, several new signings and the fixture list being released to get me back into it again. I’m at a lucky stage that my kids are really into city and are at ages where they want to go regardless of league positions etc, so I’d rather take them to watch a team that competes in league 2 rather than the wank we’ve put up with this season.....and to be honest even if we were in the Evo Stick league I’d still do the 240 mile round trip to home games even if it’s just to ensure my kids grow up supporting the Bantams rather than the over rated, fickle support base, deluded big club wannabes at st James park.

I hope you're right 2708, but due to my nightmare a couple of weeks ago when city offered Chicksen and NKP new 2 year deals, I won't feel safe until I know for sure they have left the club.

I think the biggest difference between this and other relegations is that this is the first time it has felt like the players actually don't give a damn and haven't shown any fight or personal pride whatsoever. Part of me feels really angry about about that and part of me feels a sense of relief that we can now start to get these wasters out of our club.

I would hope that we can deal better with League 2 this time round, when compared to 2007/8.

I posted a comprehensive list of teams who either went straight back up, or within two seasons. So there is some hope.

We really need to flush the cistern clean! Get rid of the losing habit.

I genuinely hope a lot of the squad decide it is time to move on, for their own good, as the pattern that has developed is caustic and could impact on new recruits.

I slept well last night, despite the relegation.

I guess we could see that the ship was going to hit the proverbial iceberg months ago, but hoped we could lurch out of the way.

Life goes on, the sun is shining, and l will focus on other things for most of the day.:sun:

Good post, will go right over the heads of many.

I am one of the 6000 (?) lost fans, I've always said l am OK as long as we are not in L2, but here we are again, it's scandalous, l am just not interested, l have better options on a Saturday and l expected relegation after 6 games anyway so was well prepared.. .

How so many posters can find positives watching a crap Bradford City slide into the basement league again, with fresh memories of the struggle to escape it, is totally beyond me. I have had a bellyful of watching an underachieving club, wake me up when it gets promoted, nothing to be proud of...

I have more interest in Farsley v Marine at the moment.

He's right. Disgraceful to compare the feelings related to the deaths of 56 people to the feelings of being relegated from one crap league to another.

You should delete your post. Utterly crass.

You are going to have to be specific who you are referring to here. Rahic has been booted out but I fully accept his dabbling with our club has ruined the club and it will take time to rebuild. Rupp we believe is going to stay to be part of the rebuilding. We are always at the mercy of owners, so you either accept that or not. I, like you don’t like it, but football has had the soul ripped out of it by the ruthless pursuit of money over ethics.

Its this sort of attitude that means Bradford City will never go anywhere and its an attitude that just breeds contempt. "Just happy to be there".

We have some strange fans. I do get fans are angry at the self inflicted madness of this relegation, likewise. However, the call for fans to abandon the club and not buy season tickets, and if they do they are part of the problem as they are accepting mediocracy. Of course if fans don’t want to buy season tickets for a variety of reasons, that is their choice, and it would be madness to try and work out why that is. Likewise I am not going to justify why I bought my season ticket, nor do I accept mediocracy. I want progress, and sometimes you have to take a step back to make progress.

Do I have a limit to my support? yes I do, if we get relegated to the non league I would find it very hard to turn up. However, I doubt the club would exist if that happened. So I suppose everyone has a cut off point.

This has been a long time coming. Last game heartbreak would have been loads harder to take. It's the hope that kills you and bar a brief decent run at Christmas the whole season has been hopeless.

Really can't wait for the season to be over. Can't make Wimbledon and seriously considering sacking off tomorrow and doing someone more enjoyable on my bank holiday!

But I'll be back next year, one shit year isn't gonna make me give a 30 year habit! You take the good times with the bad.

I think for me, relegation cannot be deemed anything other than gutting. I dreamt about it last
night. The semis against Burton. The playoff final vs Northampton. What a day. Such a convincing win. Going for drinks with my mates after around Wembley. What a cracking night with the hope that we'd be heading up the leagues towards the championship in the years to come. What a fantastic day. Further progress and then Millwall away prior to the takeover. A team simply one or two short from promotion. A failure yes but the hope that the new owners would propel us to the next level the following season. Be careful what you wish for. New owners with a load of cash that would bankroll our promotion leads to this. Who knew that this would lead to such cataclysmic failure and a team created with a top of the league budget would finish bottom by some margin. I'm for one are gutted. Sad really at what could have been. A squad that required marginal tweaking, to be made better, decimated by some complete areshole for the reason of I know better than anyone else. Alas we are now relegated once again. A new beginning. This time the league will be more competitive. I hope that the 13k fans renewing, will produce a similar budget from last year which was as high as it's been for a fair few years, and we have the funds to assemble a better squad than the 12/13 squad and make an even better fist of it under Boywer to get us up automatically. Of course this hinges on a lot of the shite we have contracted being jettisoned/ moved on or manufactured moves away. But I sincerely hope we make a real attempt at getting out of this league at the first attempt. Anything less than a bloody good go will be one monumental failure

I'd say the opposite. Perspective is needed, and how are we going to get that but by looking over our history and experiences, both individual and collective? Compared to personal tragedies in our own lives, compared to the collective tragedy we all share -- this relegation means very little at all. It is just the result of a group of men failing in their job of kicking a ball around a field, and shouldn't be treated as something more important.

To my mind, that is all that the post that started this hoo-haw was trying to say.

It's disappointing, it's anger-inducing, it means a lot of hard work has been lost and a lot more hard work will be needed, it means we have to endure the fourth tier yet again...but it is what it is. We've done it all before, and no doubt we'll do it all again. Come the summer I'll be looking forward to the new season. I just hope that when I'm back over any away matches will be in places I want to visit...
