I wouldn't have thought Vernam will be Lincoln's top earner. You've also got to factor in Sunderland, Ipswich, Wigan etc paying a lot more. Wasn't McGeady on £50k a week in League 1 due to his contract signed in the Prem?

 

Is it ? Finish bottom, get spanked every week v winning every week ? I know which I'd take.

Well if he goes good luck to him. Some players might just look at the bigger picture like 15,000 crowds and playing for a superstar of world football than a few quid more and being home early for tea.

Your basis is pure conjecture. Yet mine is based on fact. You have no idea if we will win 'every game' next season, like wise you have no idea if a team currently in league 1 will finish bottom. All you do know is that a team currently in league 1 offers a better standard of football week in week out than a team in league 2.

 

Bigger picture lol. We're a bang average league 2 football club. Let's forget this nonsense that we are a big club. We aren't. We just happen to have a large number of fans taking up a cheap season ticket offer.

Exactly. That and his career progression is better under Mark Hughes than it is under managerless Lincoln.

 

What is this potential you talk about? We're a club that has spent most of its history in the bottom division. Half the time we weren't even the best team in Bradford FFS. We have a big stadium courtesy of Big Geoff and his borrowed cheque book and a large fan base on cheap tickets. So please, can you point out what potential actually is without results on the pitch?

 

But that's like saying a player would rather play for Norwich in the championship rather than say Southampton in the premiership because Norwich have better chance of winning games.

 

There are signs only today we are to receive a record figure by a new kit partner and we are targeting 1.1 million pound monies from commercial activity. So sponsors and partners see the potential. The difference in average salary in L1 and L2 is substantial, for players at our level it makes a massive difference.

Crowds dont win games or get you promotion. He has a chance to play at a higher standard next tetm and if he choses that over us then fair enough.

 

How many players left Leeds for Norwich and Burnley a few years ago. They got paid PL wages while Leeds were in the CH for god knows how many years.

 

Bang on. The likes of Bradley Johnson et al if I remember. How we've suddenly become a bigger club than some league one clubs despite our disastrous fall down the league ladder is bemusing. You earn that right, something Lincoln have done very well over the last few years.
