Vernham is not messi, yes he had a good end to the season, but he is replaceable , as are all lower league footballers.
Prior to his season ending purple patch, he was average at best.

I love how people know what's right for folk they've never met. Only people who know what's best for themselves is themselves. If a move closer to home is deemed to be beneficial then that is the right choice.

If he's in demand and has any sense he'll take a good few weeks to just relax with his family and switch off. He can then consider his options once he's back from holiday and fully recharged.

Surely that's what any sensible person would do if they had multiple options?

I agree but last season injuries cost us a lot of points Hughes was alluding to it the other week we need better players to come in when we have injuries and to increase competition for first team places that’s why I hope he is not a replacement for Vernham rather competition

Totally agree. He either stays with us enthusiastically or he goes. His personal circumstances are nothing to do with us. We will offer him what we think he is worth to our club and if Lincoln can do better good luck to them although they only scraped through to avoid relegation.

I'd have liked him to stay, his late 6/7 game cameo showed what he is capable of but he'd been at the club 18 months, I would think we have made him an offer with regards what the club think he's worth and what he can bring to the squad if he decides to go elsewhere good luck to the lad.

Your basis is pure conjecture. Yet mine is based on fact. You have no idea if we will win 'every game' next season, like wise you have no idea if a team currently in league 1 will finish bottom. All you do know is that a team currently in league 1 offers a better standard of football week in week out than a team in league 2.

First of all, Just wanted to say that these kind of signings are the type we need. Players who are young, Have potential, And can still improve. Its a polar opposite of the shit we’ve been doing in the last 5 years where we get 30+ year old rejects from Lg1 and Lg2 Teams

secondly, Ive seen this argument going on in multiple forums now an there’s a lot of bs

A player will base his move upon

    1) The Money - Thats the main one

    2) The ability to become a better player so they can move up the football pyramid (Which links into Point 3)

    3) Regular Football

    4) The league the potential club is in (which links to point 2)

    5) Location. For lower league players, Moving across the country isn’t ideal

    In that order

Then comes all the shit like playing in front of big crowds an stuff like that. That’s just PR bs said by every single player that signs for a club that is bigger than the one they were at

All hypothetical though. If it Lincoln that is his eventual destination, at this moment they have just as much chance of success in their division as Bradford do as theirs. Don't forget Bradford fans were saying all these things last season when Adams was announced, that promotion was on the cards and excited by new signings. Have people forgotten how our CEO was not accepting mediocrity anymore?
Let's wait and see how the season starts first before we make talk of having a better season than teams in a division above us.

I'd rather keep Vernam based off of his end of season form, but I wasn't overly enamoured with him at the beginning - his finishing was awful.

If we could keep Vernam and Eisa, that's good, because we probably wouldn't need another signing - but if Vernam leaves, as long as he isn't in our division, then it is what it is.

I'd be more upset if Paudie left.

Vernam will go where the money is and rightfully so it’s a short career, playing level will also come into it travel distance least likely when it’s not like it was with Marshall with him going to the other end of the country every week.

Sadly the club is currently less attractive and playing below the Lincoln’s of the world, it’s the clubs job to get us back above them. If Vernam goes best look to him, it’s how he’s replaced that counts.

They are the league above. You are coming across as deluded.

Bigger picture lol. We're a bang average league 2 football club. Let's forget this nonsense that we are a big club. We aren't. We just happen to have a large number of fans taking up a cheap season ticket offer.

I think what he may be suggesting if a player goes to a poor team in the divi above and gets relegated and we go the opposite direction? The former might be playing in front of an audience of say 5,000 and losing as opposed to 17,000 every other game and winning.

If that’s not what he is saying , I will. Especially if there is only a few £’s different?

There are signs only today we are to receive a record figure by a new kit partner and we are targeting 1.1 million pound monies from commercial activity. So sponsors and partners see the potential. Of course we now have got to get our act together and use the support wisely but the potential is very muchthere

Even if we do have potential, potential doesn't pay the bills.

The difference in average salary in L1 and L2 is substantial, for players at our level it makes a massive difference.

Again agree with your point. We always enter a new season with a sense of anticipation and hope.

As the team will include a number of new signings and others who need to regularly ‘up’ their game, there is no guarantee for City or indeed Lincoln.

However, even if Lincoln do well (and I have nothing against them), City will remain the larger club.

Clearly we are underachieving, until we are pressing for promotion in League One, or are promoted to the Championship.

My bad they appointed a manager last week.
I think the Barrow centre half is Paudie's replacement. similar age and stature. I liked Paudie but he is no Mcardle or Davies
