They've known for weeks it will be late August/early september and were given dates of 29th August/12th September at the meeting last week. We just look unprepared as usual.

I'll tell you what's actually lazy.

Pretending Marcus Maddison and Jay Spearing are realistic targets.

If they were affordable I'd take Hiwula or Connolly. People will say no end product but pace causes problems and creates soaces and chancesfor others. I would guess connolly wouldn't break the bank

I'm afraid our recruitment will be hard to swallow.
We had a very good chance to freshen things up but from what is emerging from the club and purely based on media comments made by supporters it doesn't appear or warrant confidence going into a new season whenever that might be.

    Absolutely.

What is the plan this season and next season, and the one after that? There isn't one that I know of.

The club is in danger of fading into darkness whilst the Wycombes and Leeds of this world enjoy the sunshine.

Rupp really is in a dilemma, does he stick or twist? Even he must have an exit strategy, because unless he's going to relocate to the area, what's the point for him? He's losing money every year, season tickets will be down, attendances could be restricted, he used his final 'get out of jail free card' in bringing McCall back and if that fails, what next?

Does he back Stuart in this transfer window by paying up the contracts of some of the deadwood and bringing in players with a longer shelf life or does he continue along with Rhodes, to stumble from one crisis to the next?

It really is time to s#$t or get off the pot.

The problem is perseption , we haven't got a god given right to be a PL / Championship club . We've been let down in the past by false dawns and lies . This as been ongoing since the 60s when i and a few others on here started going , we've had previous owners who for a couple of seasons have made the dream of higher lge football a reality but it's never been sustained . The nearly season springs to mind , a cash / player injection then would have seen us in the old 1st division with a good squad and manager and look what happened . A chairman who wouldn't back the team , lost in the playoffs after looking certs for promotion . The season after the team was broke up and sold , its always been the same . I've asked before who in there right mind would want to buy Bradford City ?, a lower lge 2 team with no visable assets a large catchment area granted but with Bradfordians who would rather travel an hour to watch higher grade football . To say we as fans lack ambition is a load of ballcocks , we have no input into the club , we just turn up in ever dwindling numbers to watch dross . I'd had enough last year Carlisle away - the weather - the garbage representing us on the pitch and most of the crowd chanting you dont know what your'e doing at Bowyer . I will be back ( hopefully ) next season ST in hand and living the dream ( for a few matches anyway ) but it doesen't mean i personally lack ambition it just means i support City .

City sound confident of landing Elliott Watt. He has attracted quite a bit of interest from other clubs in league 1 and 2 apparently.

I hope this one comes off

O'Donnell close to agreeing new contract too, again he appears to have attracted interest from other clubs too

    Exactly
We are missing the boat again
As has been mentioned on here before we are hiding behind the salary cap as an excuse for being negative a good excuse for being beaten by the likes of Salford Mansfield et al
We really are ambitionless and deserve to be where we are
Smart clubs see it as an opportunity (the best chance to get out of this league) we are using it as an excuse for mid to lower table mediocrity

For every bury and Bolton there are plenty of other success stories with good investment. Look at Lincoln. Spent a lot of time in lower leagues recently yet used a cup run to build a new training complex complete with gym etc.
What do we have to show for our cup runs? A few dvds and a few nights to reminisce in the banqueting suites.

it would be nice if any money from that or like the McBurnie sale was used to propel the club forward off the pitch but it’s usually all swallowed up on journeymen crap players or straight in the owners bank account. A portion of each additional revenue received could be ring fenced for Future projects

Me too it's been our biggest nightmare for many a long year
Have heard rumours that he had an offer but declined as "not enough" whether that's true or not I have no idea
Sh1t or get off the pot is a phrase that springs to mind
As a club we are stagnating and there will come a point when recovery is impossible and we will simply drift into oblivion An analogy is buying a car and not maintaining it eventually it will give out
Until things change at the top we are stuck, fan base will dwindle, sponsors will loose interest, we haven't been able to attract a decent player since Charlie Wyke and are supposed to be happy re signing Billy Clarke etc etc
It's a mess Dave goodness only knows where it will end Leadership comes from the top and that's non existent Our past chairmen going back to the 60s had little money but they were interested in the club I bet Mr Rupp would struggle to name 7 of our first team players
Fans are gradually begin to see the situation but are powerless apart from not renewing season tickets some blindly see nothing but good in the club they will have a very rude awakening !!!

Mate I got told off because I said Park was from Plymouth.

With all respect to @Park bantam@Park bantam I might have a war of words with him but I honestly couldn't care if he lived on the moon. He's a Bradford fan, he's is one of us and part of the Bantams family.

Although our signings have been underwhelming so far, I'm not sure if splashing the cash would prove entirely useful, but I do find it worrying we couldn't afford Cooke

I feel that although our leadership hierarchy is piss poor and will keep us in this division for the next 10 years unless it changes, our scouting department is non-existent and I do wonder if that's because of funding or pure mismanagement.

Splashing the cash didn't work for Rahic when he signed Akpan, Scannell and the like on big wages, we even increased spending to keep Jack Payne on loan, resulting in a great season where we finished dead last. Recruiting the right characters is far better than praying some unmotivated division drop-down will perform just because you pay him enough.

Our first team recruitment is shocking, especially compared to our youth recruitment which is essentially volunteer. Do we even have a scouting system in place for the first team? How do we scout for the first team? Rahic relied on YouTube .Bowyer relied on the discard pile. McCall relies on Facebook. It's not even like we have a style of player we aim for. Teams like Peterborough aim for creative attacking football. We pay and pray.

TLDR: crap 1st team recruitment. What's our scouting system for the first team? We need answers.

He was god awful last season, need to see a big improvement this season. None of the centre backs look particularly good, especially together.

One of the main things I am looking for with the new signings has to be some pace. For the last 2 seasons we have had very little pace going forward which made it so much easier for teams to defend against us. Not limiting this to our forwards, we need someone who is able to run at the opposition with the ball and make 30/40 yards up the pitch to both worry the opposition and take the pressure of the defence. Players like Reid and Reach have given us this in recent years (even if the end product was not always the best!!) and I think we are missing this now.
