Get this in your head @Fordy117@Fordy117 Rupp is going to carry on running the club self sufficiently just has it has always been so forget him coming in with more money it isn’t going to happen and if in the future the club have new owners it will almost certainly been the same. The club is being run on exactly the same lines Rhodes and Lawn were running which give us 6 years of progress and on the edge of the championship. There isn’t a fan who wouldn’t welcome big money benefactors like Salford but history shows it’s not going to happen get used to it

How will we be self sufficient when the McBurnie money has already gone? Those cup runs happen once in a blue moon and we have no youth talent coming through. Couple that with cheap season ticket sales which don't go far, what makes us self sufficient?

Good post. As with any football club or business, the strategy and the vision have to come from the top down. We have no plan whatsoever. Nothing tangible to grow the club, no real identity. You don't even have to look at anything as material as the ground ownership situation - just look at our transfer business last season. We sign Vaughan - a proven goalscorer - then we play defensive football and loan him out in the January. Now we're hawking him around because we 'can't afford his wages'. Pathetic. We're a shambles of an outfit and as a club, we're right we're we deserve to be - 4th division plodders.

Not sure a club owner can come out with any 'plans'...
So he could publicly say "I'm gonna buy back the ground" Gibb thinks 'great' I would have let it go for £3m and now I can demand £4m 'cos the chairman has committed to buy it....see what I mean..?

The signings of Clarke, DMH and Sutton suggest prudence with the financial budget IMO. Lower league players on small contracts.

It's this that frustrates, as this time next year we'll have a new set of players with the odd mainstay(Sutton in this case) reset, try again and so on.

Yeah, my point was based more on history. Under Lawn, we ran at a calculated loss, depending on cup runs and sell-ons to fill the deficit. Under Rupp, we've run at an uncalculated loss with little to no financial control, depending on sell-ons to fill the deficit.

I've no doubt that now we'll operate on a shoe-string, with a combination of covid and the salary gap being ideal excuses for a lack of any sort of vision or plan.

I did some digging the other day. Since Multimillionaire Rupp bought the club only three or four clubs having fallen more places. Accrington pay a fraction of City’s wages, they’re a division above. It’s not about how much money you spend, it’s how it’s spent. Proper planning, scouting, knowing which managers might replace the current one when he leaves, having the youth teams playing the same football as the seniors, having a recruitment strategy better than have they played for the manager before and are they cheap? City simply blunder from season to season, Richmond and Rahic might have ended in tears but at least they had a plan.

Look at last season’s squad, how much did Anderson, Devine, Riley, Taylor, Palmer, Cooke and Devitt hoover up in wages? How would proper scouting have improved that? How would a proper recruitment strategy have stopped us signing Guthrie to replace Vaughan? How would having a short list of next managers worked better than picking up the phone to your mate in the hope of selling more season tickets.

city’s problem isn’t lack of money, it’s the complete inability of those in charge to organise the club spend it wisely.

The principle's of Rahic's plan were sound. The execution was very flawed. Not helped by him being a total loon.

Whether I like this or not, I fear you are right. However, under Rhodes and Lawn, we had a plan, structure with scouting agents, momentum driving the club in a forwards trajectory backed up an upsurge in attendance, revenues I assume. I read yesterday that we asked for a third batch of replica shirts via Nike. Some going at this level.
Today, we have a difference. A dwindling support base, the fall out of covid19, all of which will impact on commercial revenue and undoubtedly require sufficiency. Then the so called salary cap... I've said before, I don't want the club to gamble its future away, like Bury for example.

But I want to hear from Rupp. The owner. Let's here what the situation is at Bradford City AFC. What the vision is. What the expectations are. How the club aim to move forward. What is happening to the second installment on Oli Mc.

As I posted above, the signings before suggest sufficiency as did those in January. The lazy appointment of McCall in February. If we continue to go backwards on the field with no obvious plan off the field, then attendances, revenues will naturally continue to fail and then what does sufficiency look like ?

All been scared off with the price
I understand whether true or not Mr Rupp wants to a show a profit on a club he bought that was a whisker away from the championship and is now languishing in the Khazi league
    Simple economics !!!!!

For every bury and Bolton there are plenty of other success stories with good investment. Look at Lincoln. Spent a lot of time in lower leagues recently yet used a cup run to build a new training complex complete with gym etc.
What do we have to show for our cup runs? A few dvds and a few nights to reminisce in the banqueting suites.

it would be nice if any money from that or like the McBurnie sale was used to propel the club forward off the pitch but it’s usually all swallowed up on journeymen crap players or straight in the owners bank account. A portion of each additional revenue received could be ring fenced for Future projects

In respect of moving to a new ground, I think we have had this discussion on numerous occasions.

The topography of Bradford is one set in the Pennine chain.

There is a distinct lack of options.

Moving to the south side of Bradford, closer to the motorway network and the potential of a rail link is not favoured by many (Bowling Back Lane/Parry Lane area).

Suggestions of moving out of Bradford ‘up the Aire Valley’ again are constricted by the relatively narrow valley and atrocious transport system (grid lock capital Saltaire/Shipley).

The King George playing fields off Gaisby Lane/Canal Road, has seen new estates (Oswin Gardens) built relatively recently.

So to put it bluntly unless City were to move to Odsal (massive groans/gnashing of teeth), then I struggle to see where this alternative, ‘Paradise’ location is!
