I've noticed that Bolton's latest signings are significantly less high profile than Doyle and Sarcevic. Can you imagine the outrage on here if we signed out of contract players from Dagenham & Redbridge and Barnet?

 

He's 26 though and hasn't managed it yet. If he was a young kid I might be more patient but he's quickly becoming a liability to have in the squad when the budget is so tight. Injuries are obviously inevitable but we need every senior player present and available for as much of the season as possible.

 

Come on Park, Mansfield, Salford, Bolton and Tranmere have all signed players of the quality to make a real difference to their respective squads, and to give them the best chance of getting promoted. If you think the signings of Sutton and Mottley-Henry are comparable to the signings they have made then youre simply blinkered im afraid. All of those teams will finish above us. Salford alone with Peter Clarke, Ian Henderson... that's the quality you need to get out of this league. We'll tread water.

 

I'd be disappointed if were thinking of bringing him here he's hardy proved he was good enough the first time round, his career has gone backwards, not for me.

 

I might be on my own here but I'd certainly take a positionally limited very good footballer to a very versatile poor one.

I'm not saying Sutton is poor, I've never seen him play but those who fail to nail down one particular position never really seem to make much of an impression which is probably why most shudder when they hear the word "utility".

 

Then how do you spin the "At this moment we’ve not got anything in the pipeline" into a positive?

 

Instead of scouting players and having a list of options for each position, we let agents know that we're looking for a right back. When they come back with a name Stuart gets out the ipad. Very poor.

 

Actually have a rumour, 1 player were looking at getting in on loan is mitch clark from Leicester 21 yr old right back can play left back too. Was on loan at port vale last season and there keen to get him back but could be competing with league one clubs for him too

 

If our revenue and playing budget is 2.5m for example, I don’t think employing 3/4/5 analysts on 20-25k is a lot of money for the return on investment. I’m an analyst who absolutely loves football, I’d happily take a few grand drop in wages for a chance to work in football, I know a lot of people of the same ilk. In the lower leagues and non league especially there’s a huge market of unknown players, largely untapped.
But you’d need a forward thinking, innovative person at the top pushing and driving this, sadly, we have the opposite. A large number of fans, myself included, are extremely disillusioned with the club at the moment, Bradford City as an organisation seem absolutely clueless and rudderless with no clear strategy. It’s infuriating.

 

That's worrying. They've said they don't want to drop down to league 2, why is he wasting time 'banging on the door' and expecting a different outcome? Why is he persevering with chasing players that have made it clear they don't want to be here? I thought that was the reason he finally decided Vaughan had to go?

 

If he gets banned from the club he gets no quotes, no stories, no access to the ground on match days. You really have no idea Fordy what reality is like. Reasonably entertaining at times but totally adrift of how local journalists work.

 

And so you should. This is Fordy117 after all. Whether true or not, this kind of rumour gets my attention, much more than the journey men in their early 30s, chasing a last pay day. Yeah, you get a few winners like Thorne.....

 

But presumably it wouldn't be an issue if a club goes over the limit by signing older players before the cap comes in? I don't want to be negative but the cynic in me feels the reason the club have made such a big thing about how they disagree with the cap, is so they can use it as an excuse when the players we sign don't match fans expectations. I've just got this awful feeling we are going to be hearing a lot of 'well of course we would have loved to bring players x, y and z in, but....'

The owner has no ambition bar getting as much money as he can back of his original investment. The clubs running is solely in the hands of Julian Rhodes, the whole strategy, whatever that is, is his and his alone. To be fair to him, he didn't have to come back to help the hapless Rupp, but Rupp knows diddly squat about any aspect of football and turned to the only person he knew who could help. This club is desperate for someone to point it in the right direction, as it is we have an owner and CEO of who neither really want to be here. Until that changes we're meerly treading water.

Sutton was sent off 2/3 times in the 18 games he played, im sure if scunny wanted him they'd have kept him even for any resale value

Watt could be anything to be fair, decent pedigree but is own admission was he didnt pull up trees at carlisle

Donnell has been part of a terrible defence (which we still have 4 of the same 5 now) for 2 years now, and is still susceptible to more than the odd soft goal

Clarke was shot the last time he was here, bereft of confidence and hasnt really sparked anywhere in the last 3 years.

Cooke, how many games last year can you count where you can say this guy is impressive and he really stood out?

The majority of vaughans goals last year were penalties, i cant say he looked like one of the "best goalscorers in the league" albeit i'll give you that he was woefully isolated.

I really hope you are right park, honestly i do, but to me this seems like a bit of a "tide us over" until next year side on the cheap as opposed to intending to get out of the division

 

Please dont hold me to that mate! All I would say in smaller squad sizes I think there is a place for one or two utility players and that they can be of value. To be fair with Sutton he is a bit of an unknown quantity to most of us at this stage so it is only right to hold judgement until we have seen what he can bring to the team

We signed these players and they all under performed.

Guthrie is rubbish. Let's not dress this up now. He isn't good enough.

Vaughan yes can score goals and I don't want him to leave but for me we treated him like sh&t and Rhodes messed up again so I can't blame him for waning out.

Novak was a poor signing on deadline day.

Donaldson misses far to many chances and age is really catching up with him.

We have seen these players and barring Vaughan all of them are not good enough.

Then add Billy Clarke to the mix and I am sorry but for me our attack won't fire us out of this league.
