Very true Trevor, we probably got more money with our sell on clause for Fabien Delph when Leeds sold him than we would have got had he been our own player .

 

David Markham was hardly Roger Cook either. Really nice bloke but hardly an investigative journalist. In fact apart from the league cup draw and odd transfer news he rarely had a story in the summer. To be fair Simon Parker now has to find a City story every day and some can be dull. He’s very good at debunking rumours, for instance the ITK were adamant Watt was a loan and slagged off Parker for saying otherwise but he was right. Follow him on Twitter and you get regular City updates when he talks to McCall.

 

I've got nothing against Simon Parker or the T&A.

I didn't really have anything against them during the Rahic era, or when we were getting relegated.

I'm not totally sure what people expect - it's a football club, not the House of Commons, there isn't really a vast array of opinions coming out of the club.

 

He is not a freelance journalist he is the local reporter attached to the local team his job is to report facts not really to offer opinions but to report signings and things when they happen

 

Correct about Markham. Lovely man, good reporter, but as you say, we used to go days and often weeks in the summer without any City news. But then of course, fans were not expecting or demanding rumours, just the way it was pre internet!

 

A proper journalist would have looked more inwardly at Rahic.
Remember back in the day.Jeremy Cross at the Yorkshire Post then (Now at the Daily Star I think), saw right through Richmond. Proper Journalist got the fact's and published them, Geoffrey banned him from VP.
As a journalist You dont get banned unless you've poked the tiger.

Parker is just a copy writer.
He's been at the T&A probably 15 years, sh!t loads have gone on in that time.
Nothing, bugger all , zero has been unearthed by him in that time.

He's the journalist for the local rag not the journalist for Bradford City FC. Should write without influence but that is not the case.

Well it's like covering any business.

If you're reliant on working with the business, you have to be a bit smarter than just going in all guns blazing.

Journalism is as much about refraining from printing some of the things you really want to, as it is about getting the latest scoop.

 

Simon Parker doesn't care about the club. He's a joke!

Anyone serious in his position wouldn't care about getting banned from the club, they would be digging deep in to why it's failing so badly.

 

If you remember Parker gave the club a massive hammering after the 4-0 defeat at Gillingham. He reported “How has it come to this?” I believe even Fordy was impressed.

 

You clearly don't read the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo or London Standard then. These papers will hammer the clubs in their area if things are going badly or need looking into.

Parker is a puppet that might as well work for the club. He could have done Ryan's role.

 

No, that would be a national tabloid.

Note, that did actually happen.

Not the local paper that is incredibly reliant on the club for stories.

Who's to say Parker or a local journalist didn't break that story to the tabloids?

If he gets banned from the club he gets no quotes, no stories, no access to the ground on match days. You really have no idea Fordy what reality is like. Reasonably entertaining at times but totally adrift of how local journalists work.

So effectively you just want pro-active positive stories about the club, without the worry that anything negative may come about.
Do you think that what actually happenend at clubs like Portsmouth,Port Vale, Rotherham or Newcastle Utd would have come about with submissive journalism

 

If he upsets the club then he could be banned from access to the players and other aspects of the club
