These strategies are more intelligent and likely to be more successful than a local paper diametrically opposing itself to the single club it covers (unlike with the MEN, London Standard, Liverpool Echo, or even the Sentinel).

Parker was certainly not one of them, certainly not until the final vestiture.
Just about everything he does is retrospective and his denoucement of Rahic was the same.
He's so many spliners on his arse from sitting on the fence.

 

Come on Parker is not gonna start slating the club left right and center. He does a decent job with what he gets. I like him as a journo. Honest as they come for me.

 

If he was that honest then he would be writing about the following:

How Rhodes must GO!
Is Rupp as bad as Edin?
Why is the club a shambles?
How come after all these years Bradford City has no assets?
Why can't we get better sponsorship deal. Is it mates rates?
Why is the City squad so slow?
Why doesn't the club hire a Sporting Director?
Is McCall really a good manager?

How can you class someone as honest when he doesn't write about the problems? It's like he works for the club. In my mind he's one of of the many reasons why this club doesn't move forward. If you are not questioned and just willing to accept what you have then you will move backwards and Bradford City are a club moving backwards for sure!

We didn't need Simon Parker. The Cows Arse team let you all know what was going on with Rahic long before most of you would accept it. SP would probably be in the same boat and just get slated for being unnecessarily negative if he printed anything some people didn't want to hear!

 

'Proper' journalism is dying out. We contribute to the process by consuming so much of our 'news' from one source that has only one agenda. Our critical thinking skills have been reduce to simple criticism of things we don't like. The T&A, like many other media outlets, is struggling to stay afloat, in part, because we don't want to pay for good journalism. We're happy to take any old balony as long as it's free.

 

I thought Parker's job was to report news, even speculation. Didn't realise he was a columnist.

T & A is owned by Newquest.. Newquest is part of the Gannett group which has revenues of over 3 billion.

The T & A isnt struggling to stay a float.

The issue with media outlets isn't that they are struggling to stay afloat it's just that they seem scared of change.

You only need to go on to the T & A website to understand this. It's poor!
