Very anonymous against Harrogate last week, hooked at half time. I would imagine he is no better than Guthrie

I don't disagree. That's why we need to order the pizzas in now. They saved us last time, they can save us again.

Burnley finishing 10th is a great achievement for them. Don't understand your point?

Can't believe R O'D is even taking stick for us finishing 9th last season. Keepers in L1/2 are down there for a reason more often than not so I get he isn't always going to be perfect but..... did some OPTA digging.

City conceded 40 goals in L2 last season, that's the 6th lowest, with O'Donnell in goal for 34 of those goals in 33 games, other 6 coming in McGees 4 games. Plymouth & Swindon who both conceded 39 went up, Northampton with 40 also.

Looking at Keeper stats, of the starting goalkeepers, he was 6th overall in save percentages saving 72% of his 112 shots on target, best was 79% at Crawley, only keepers in the top 10 who were called to action more than him were Palmer at Plymouth saving 110 shots from 146 attempts at 75% and Cornell at Northampton saving 90 shots from 120 at 75%.

At the other end, we were 13th in total shots at 454. We were 22nd in shots on target conversion with 125 on target from 454 attempts. We were 16th in goals scored with 44. Like I said earlier, 4th tier keepers aren't always everyones cup of tea and will have some issues, but the other end of the pitch is the bigger reason we finished 9th.

Just seen Vaughan posted about Leighton Baines on his twitter. Must be of to Everton. Think that's how this works anyway.

    Definitely not.
He can play right back, right wing back and defensive midfield. Usually a sign he’s ok in all 3 and not good in any so becomes a “utility man”

O’Donnell is more than capable. Even if we got promoted I’d be confident he’d do a job in league one for first season at least.

The lack of goals and ability to dominate the game is what has cost us for a long time. I think that we have seen that a striker who was prolific for another club, just failed miserably with the midfield that we had last year. So the strengthening of midfield is vital in my mind (plus a right back).

Now back to transfer rumours rather than angst about R O’D.

He is a midfielder who can play in other positions and that is a good thing

I'd be disappointed if were thinking of bringing him here he's hardy proved he was good enough the first time round, his career has gone backwards, not for me.

I might be on my own here but I'd certainly take a positionally limited very good footballer to a very versatile poor one.

I'm not saying Sutton is poor, I've never seen him play but those who fail to nail down one particular position never really seem to make much of an impression which is probably why most shudder when they hear the word "utility".

Difference being that Milner played fullback late on in his career with plenty of experience to help.

Fingers crossed though, it'd be a he'll of a signing if you're right!

Please dont hold me to that mate! All I would say in smaller squad sizes I think there is a place for one or two utility players and that they can be of value. To be fair with Sutton he is a bit of an unknown quantity to most of us at this stage so it is only right to hold judgement until we have seen what he can bring to the team
