For christ sake let's just wait till the season starts to pan out. Don't mind a bit of doom and gloom in all the discussions but I think we're in danger of relegation from some of the stuff I've read.

For me the title is between us, Stockport and Notts. Stockport have let go of some of their older lads, brought in mid 20s with some experience and are going younger but the general 11 will be very similar. Notts have a very interesting squad, Langstaff and McGoldrick could be the most dangerous pairing in the league. Midfield has a great mix of legs and experience. And I think our chances are really good as again the majority of the starting 11 all know each other, will have the odd one to bleed in and the new tactic (looking like a 352/532) will lead to some iffy results for the first 8-10 weeks whilst it gets going, but I really fancy us with the additions we have made so far.Doodle, Steve Burton, JimmyBantam and 6 others like this. -

The value in the club is the name, the support base (customer goodwill), the history, the back story and the FL golden share and if the price were £5million it would be a steal for an owner who genuinely wanted a club that had the potential to get into the PL with it's support base and catchment area primed and ready to grow.
Imagine what we could do if we had the capacity and tapped in strongly to the Asian community.
There is zero or at least very limited long term potential in the likes of Salford, Stockport & Wrexham -a flirt with the Championship at very best. As Winkleman has found at MK Dons, you can only really grow a club organically if the locals are open to that. Their glass ceiling is way below ours, and owing their ground wont change that at all.
Our potential is more along the size of Sheffield United and their ground is owned by their owner not the club. There aren't that many football clubs where the ground is actually owned by the same Ltd Company as the Football club. It's a red herring is ground ownership.
As I've said before, for Bradford City Football Club to own the ground would create a much bigger liability on the balance sheet than paying rent. It would create a huge commercial debt, at double figure interest rates, therefore the alternative is for Rupp to buy it from his own funds, and if he did, we would end up paying rent to him.Stop hovering to collapse... Tilt should be a good signing for Salford at this level.

One thing I will give Hughes credit for is the need to take the burden off Cook. And the formation change allows us to give him further support in the final 3rd. I think he wanted to do this last season but losing Wright and the injury to Derbyshire stopped those plans - especially when the answers were Nevers and Costelleo.
I wasn't upset by our recruitment last summer. Despite a few duds I think we brought in players that did enough for me and with a different tactical approach could really prosper this season. I think we have a good team on paper, one that can definitely mix it at the top (maybe with another addition or so) so it is down to Hughes now.
Appreciate Crichlow and Banks have gone - but the season before we lost Paudie, Watt and Vernam who were 3 of the better players. Despite that, we improved and made progress.Solentbantam, Doodle, Inspector and 6 others like this. -
We need 3 quality loan players - pacy CB, LWB and ST. Next 2 weeks are pivotal, get the recruitment right and we should have a good chance of promotion, if not.........

Since then of course, Rupp has had to dip further into his pocket to pay for the calamitous behaviour of Rahic. He decided to loan the club £1.7m to pay for Rahic's mistakes. That loan is still outstanding according to the latest published accounts. In short, the book value of the club in his investment companies accoun5s is around €8.5m. As @Onside rightly points out, in the meantime we have gone from a Div 1 to a Div 2 club.
From his perspective, if Rupp were to sell the club for less than the €8.5m book value, he'd crystallise a loss on the sale. That is probably the reality of the situation. The notion that he could sell the club for the £10-11m quoted is for the birds imo. In the meantime since the club operates on a self-sustaining with no further injection of funds from Rupp to wash its face, he appears content for it to simply tickoverSteve Burton, trevor, Kevin1954 and 6 others like this. -

We look so much better with a back four and the sooner we get back to that with the players to play it the better.

Interested to see if the 2 new wingers make the 18 today after one training session. I'd just stick with Pointon and Wilson as the two bench options but Hughes might want to throw them in as an unknown.
Imagine Wilson after yesterday? Signs a 3 year deal and within 4 or 5 days they bring in another 2 players for your position. Hope we get enough parking spaces at Apperley Bridge!Botswana Bantam, Bantam75, Jayteebee and 6 others like this. -

Imagine the furore on here if Hughes or any manager wanted to sign a player and Sparks overruled him. The CEO job is to support the manager and he he is doing that
