he has only played 5 games for them, seems like he has been there two minutes, I think we should look elsewhere if its a loan , rather than be used as his next shop window (if true). His motivation might be completely different now he is on the books elsewhere.

 

I know Wright did well with us last year, but that's literally the only good spell of his career. 4 months. Pretty much tanked everywhere else.

I'm not keen on Wright returning, I'd far sooner see Banks return.

And Wright is most definitely not a wing back. Lets stop that chat right now. Plymouth tried him there and their fans reviews were far from complimentary.

 

He flopped at the top of L1 for the champions of that division. We are a long long way off that standard/expectation...

And its about time someone was good for us and shite elsewhere.....makes a change!

 

And he's flopped everywhere before us. Ask Salford, Colchester and Walsall fans - all whilst in L2.

Like I said, he did well with us and there's no denying that. But it's a 4 month purple patch in his career. I'm not convinced by him. This is why (though I understand why he went to Plymouth) when you take his the context of his whole career into account he should've stayed with us last January as we're the only team to ever get a tune out of him.

 

Tbh i dont really care what he has done elsewhere when he was 18 and 19 years old. I saw a real asset at our club, playing our style and under Mark Hughes. It just clicked for him.

 

I am not sure that bringing back Wright is a good thing to be honest. He was great last season and we really missed him, but he moved on. He may have feelings of going backwards if he comes back; last season he was all about proving what he could do, and it earned him a lucrative contract.

 

Well if he comes back, then I doubt he’ll make that decision thinking he’s making a backward move.
He looked decent when we had him, but do we really need him? Hughes doesn’t really play out and out wingers. If he plans to, maybe it’s Omari Patrick coming back? That would be a more horizontal move so to speak.

 

I would take either Banks or Wright back but you’d think Palace might wanna try Banks at a higher level if loaned out again?

i do think Banks is more consistent. Wright was great for us but I have a slight doubt if he’d come back and reproduce it, based on his career profile - he’d been passed around like a rugby ball with mediocre loan spells. That said, he worked well in our system and we missed him
when he left.

Banks would be like Cullen - would fit straight back in second time and nail it.

Wright will give us an option out wide if we need a switch. He can also battle with Smith for that starting role with Cook.

 

I think if Wright moves, it will be a late window move once Plymouth know who they need. Looks like he's got a thigh injury at the minute, Schumacher said he wont join training again until close to their opening game.

 

Few other L2 bits over the week.....

Joe Pigott has turned down Gillingham to join up with Leyton Orient. Gillingham are also struggling to sign Sheyi Ojo after having talks this week, local journo saying it's over money. Salford have signed Curtis Tilt from Wigan, first time the defender will play in L2 after mainly featuring in the Champ or L1.

 

A loan wouldn't be a problem then, he either starts where he left off which as you say was excellent form or he does a Dion and warms the bench.

 

Lets hope he doesn't appear for Plymouth if thats the case. Otherwise we are stuck with him all season and can't send him back in January. Ala Dion....

TBF though - Wrights performances outshone anything Dion ever did - he looked 'ok' for a few games under Sparky when he first came in. And that was it. Unfair to compare the two.

 

Banks over Wright every time

 

They used Wright as a LWB twice in L1, he played WB in pre season too. Bali Mumba joined yesterday to be the new RWB starter, but looks like their left sided defenders are carrying knocks, so Wright may well be in the squad to cover that role again until people are fitter.

From the talk of their manager, sounds like he plans on using Wright. Their fans don't seem bothered about Wright at all.

 

Gillingham, despite the US backers behind them, not having their own way in the transfer market this summer.

Tilt should be a good signing for Salford at this level.
