Thought I'd get this started after reading an article in the YP.

    https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/bradford-city/bradford-citys-new-look-starting-xi-if-the-transfer-rumours-are-true-4072117

    Namely;
    • Grant Savoury - Queens Park - AM - 22
    • Dipo Akinyemi - Ayr United - CF/ST - 25
no idea where these rumours have come from but fits the mould for signing up and coming young players and both are for positions that could use some improvement! only thing for me is we would need to pay a fee for them both as the contacts expire in 2024!

Akinyemi has bounced about from noon league club to non league club then had a reasonable season in a division that's possible even below the levels he's been at. He doesn't appear to be what we need on paper.

Savoury, who knows. Hopefully not the next Scott Brown (think that was his name?) though.

Could be believable after signing that Kelly chap from Ireland.

Hope we're looking at League One quality, not League Two squad players

hopefully season ticket increases goes toward a big 'war chest'! get these in (if they are worth the fee) and we should be purring regardless what league we are in!

I know we can't judge on the few minutes we've seen him but that Kelly looked OK and had a massive throw on him. Be interesting to see how/if he develops with us

Akinyeme, not for me. Seen him a few times against Dundee and he's offered nothing that we need. First touch awful at times, didn't seem to be bringing others into the game. He's scored a decent amount but he's no Cook. Whether he can go up a gear, I doubt it from what I've seen, definitely need better than that

kelly, looks like he has potential, but we can not comment on players that might just be journalist bluff.

If there is truth in it lets hope they are more Jamie Walker than Mark Stewart

I remember asking Stewart why he is awful (I was young) and he was obviously offended. Mind you, I also once asked Stix if he was aware that he was voted one of the worst premier league signings ever. He just laughed

Someone at work was talking football with me this morning waiting for the coffee machine. It's a 'player is a friend of a friend' thing, but he says we have begun talking to Daniel Batty from Fleetwood about joining next season. His contract is up at the end of the year and isn't in Scot Browns plans anymore.

Might be nonsense, but I'm sure plenty more nonsense will be in this thread before the summer deadline day. He is a 25 year old DM/CM, played most his career at the champ or L1 level so far. Imagine someone like him would be a Clayton replacement if we went up?

Have we ever signed any decent Scottish players, with the exception of Walker? I'm struggling to think of one. Eoin Jess was ok but not a world beater. Gary Locke was more concerned about his hair. John McGinlay was obese and well past it. Hopkin cost a lot of money for little return

John McCole and John Reid, although they're probably before your time.

Yes probably, anyone from early/mid-80's onwards I can probably recall

And before anyone mentions McCall it doesn't count :joy:

The underdog story continues at Wrexham. Imagine a lot of "cant believe they've signed X" type comments are going to be in this thread if we are still in L2 next season, but having signed Waters from Barrow yesterday they are bringing in Ben Foster. Love to see the team they go into L2 with, given most of their squad could walk this league as it is.

You'll probably recall Brian Mitchell. Joined us from Aberdeen as a full back in the 80's and was a regular for several seasons.

You mean FROM Scotland, as opposed to John Hendrie?

I think part of the problem was signing random SPL players for the Premiership/upper Division One standard.

The SPL is vaguely League One level, some even League Two level. No chance of us populating a successful Premier League side with random signings from Hearts.

Mitchell was the first on my list. Another one from Aberdeen was McArdle, though he wasn't Scottish. Then there's McNiven, who was Scottish but not signed from there...
