Exactly this. He became the player he Is at our club, before that he was going nowhere. Aged 21 with no future at Villa and 3 failed loans at L2.

 

He wasn't our player, Villa recalled him as Plymouth had inquired about him after his good spell with us, his agent would have had a big influence on the lad not merely pointing out he would be on better money but also he could be a championship player come the 2023/24 season.
We tried to sign him Hughes stating we did all we could with regards the situation, unfortunately Plymouth offered the lad a better deal.

 

We shifted on 3 players in Paudie, Watt and Vernam. They wern't committed and we have done even better without all 3. I will never fault players for finding a better deal, better opportunity but at the same time we need players who are committed and want to prosper with our club. Not those who simply see it as 'a wage'.

 

Dont think he had any choice.Villa recalled him, and sold him to Plymouth.I dont think he had the option of staying with City.

 

So let him be then? Why go backwards chasing players who will up and leave at the first opportunity. Like I said - Paudie, Watt and Charles V were all good hands. They moved on. Have we missed them? No. We have improved as a team without them.

I enjoyed watching the lad during his time at Valley Parade maybe Bradford City should have brokered a deal with Aston Villa that he came on a season long lone, that way this situation wouldn't have arisen.

 

Plymouth signed him on a free with add ons. I'm sure we'll have matched the transfer deal but probably not the wages.

 

Of course he did, Villa couldn't force him to sign for Plymouth. It's not the slave trade you know. He chose to move to a team on the verge of the championship, that was his choice.

Now fans clambering for us to go back in for him because it hasn't worked out.

 

Just replying to a post and giving my opinion, not sure fans are clambering to get him back just posting their thoughts.

 

It's a valid point and one worth taking into consideration imo.

The season long loan point isn't valid though as even if it's a full season they still have a recall option in January.

 

I thought they couldn't after their player had played so many games Critchlow being an example ?, I believe he's on a season long loan but some were worried Town would recall him in January.

 

Dan Kemp has looked very impressive when I've seen him. Be keen to bring him in for next season.

 

Yeah that's true. Perhaps it's arranged on a deal by deal basis then? I thought I'd read that they were included as standard.

 

Where does he play? Behind a striker or out wide? Great stats at Hartlepool but I don't recognise the name if I'm honest.

 

Not defending him , but wasn’t it NOT his decision to make. It was his parent club who held his contract. Yes of course he could have said no by refusing to sign the deal, but not let’s forget he probably was left with little option at the end of the day?

Left footed right winger, Banks role really. But Hartlepool have started using him as a 10 and its working wonders. He's got 9 goals and 2 assists from 14 starts in a poor team, cant be sniffed at. Got another year on his deal at MK Dons it seems, doesnt seem like he was able to do much at L1 level with MK over the last year since his move from Orient.

Not an out and out striker I don't think. Either a wide forward or a 10.
