Banks can only play right wing. Wright can play on the wing upfront or wing back

just because he has been deployed as a wing back, doesn't mean he can play there. He's effective as a winger or as a second striker

Last night Banks played for Crystal Palace under 21s against Hoffenheim under 23s in Utah where the temperature was 40C .

Banks can take a mean free kick and is also decent at taking corners.

I wouldnt disagree with that but with Wrights versatility I think he is more suitable/appealling to our squad and what looks like a favoured 352 system.

Not sure Banks could play off Cook or a deeper more central role to justify his squad place as a winger. Could be wrong...

Fair point mate, I'm just not sure Wright is as versatile as some make out. I'm still not sure why Plymouth signed him when they tend to play with wing backs as I see Wright as an out and out winger. I think wing back is a very specific role that only a few can play well.

If 3-5-2 is the way we're going this year, then LWB is the glaring spot in the lineup that still needs addressing. I'm no fan of Ridehalgh and Oduor isn't a wing back by his own admission.

Aside from that, another striker would be the next priority. Cook and Smith will be first choice but we haven't got much outside of that. Oliver is seemingly injury prone and Derbyshire isn't of the level required to push the other two and offer genuine competition.

Why does it have to be Banks or Wright? Why not both? Now that would show ambition

He definitely has goals in him, something not all wingers have.

Last season Wright was a lot better than Banks maybe Banks potential is greater. My issue is Wright can play in all formations banks only in a 433 or 4233 and we may not play that formation

    Here’s the conundrum then.

    We play 352

Where does Banks or Wright play? Remember neither are established wing backs . So where would they fit in a first 11?

    Both would get battered defensively.

Our front two will be Smith and Cookie.

I reckon whith his high level of technique Wright would be able to play as an attacking midfielder of a midfield 3 - I felt it at the time he was with us, you could tell he'd come through a premier league academy - as well as on the wing, support striker, wing back in an emergency / chasing a game

He is playing wing backs again today.....ridicilous he is playing a formation we 'may' not be playing when just 2 weeks until kick off. Not a good way to bed the new players in at all eh????

Failing all that, it is just you being very naive thinking we wont play wing backs.
