So any agreement should include making sure the facilities at Woodhouse Grove are available to us between 14:00 and 18:00 on matchdays, just in case our fixture is postponed?

Its clearly not an isolated incident. And how many schools do you think have classes on a Saturday afternoon?

I know Woodhouse Grove have lessons on a Saturday morning now can't say for sure if the includes physical education, I'm not sure if they play football there but do know the have/had a very good Rugby Union side at one time.

 

Private Schools have many out of hours activities not only for themselves but outside parties. Just saying.

 

Why would I be loving this? I’d say what’s more the case, is that with every emerging ‘story’ that shows the club in a poor light and seems to affirm the concerns of those (such as myself) who air concerns over the running of the club, its easier for the likes of yourself to throw cheap shots than concede there are grounds to those concerns.

Almost every private school I know have sports on a Saturday. Drive past BGS before going to VP on match day and you will see what I mean

 

Personally if we are getting kicked off pitches midway through training sessions then I am worried about the organisationa t the club, not becuase we are sharing the facilities with the school but more becuase the club are not capable of looking at a clock and telling the time. Schools run on fixed timetables, they do not just randomly decide to have PE lessons plus there will be contracts set in place that say when the pitches and facilities are available for the club and when they are available for the school. If the club are not capable of telling the time and arranging training around those times then there are issues which could be much deeper, if they can not keep to those contracts what other contracts are they not capable of understanding and keeping?

 

Well it’d be good to get clarity from the club, given GA has aired it. Because whatever the underlying detail and context, it would seem that he and the first team aren’t entirely in control of making/sticking to training plans, and that’s a concern. However you look at it, the statement isn’t one that seems to reflect a well organised and professionally run club. And seeing as we’re 16th in League 2, lagging behind clubs that until very recently were in the non-leagues, that doesn’t seem an unfair or unreasonable deduction.

Added to which, is that a statement you’d expect the manager to make? It hardly reflects well. So either he’s naive, or he’s done it deliberately. And aren’t either of those a concern?

 

It appears we have exclusive rights on the grass pitches but not the 4G. I am guessing no one booked the 4G on Friday when we knew we would not be playing. I am alarmed that we have to move off the 4G at a moments notice. The manager must have access to training facilities. We were lucky yesterday as Horsfall was available. If it is not possible to negotiate exclusive rights for the 4G at our normal training facility then we need to obtain another 4G ground. This aspect of training is essential and our club
Must not be disadvantaged. A long spell of freezing weather could see our players not training whilst other clubs have access to these facilities.

 

It’s poor organisation. Looking at GA’s comments, it’s not an isolated occurrence, and the weather hasn’t been below freezing often over the winter. So which surface’s are we unable to use as we expect to, and why - with the benefit of weather forecasts that give a reasonable indicator of sub zero conditions several days in advance, can’t we make appropriate training plans so we know where we stand?

 

Exactly. It’s nothing to do with ownership or leasing arrangements. It’s poor planning, simple as that. Reserve the space and plan to use it, or tailor training plans accordingly. Go for a swim, a run, gym time, video analysis and tactical sessions. It really shouldn’t be that complicated. Its a symptom of an unprofessionally run club, nothing else,

 

Yep, so currently I would lay the blame for poor planning of training at GA. He will have details about when we have the pitches etc so he should plan around that.

 

I take it that you have contacted the club directly to express your newfound concerns about the training facilities and access rights? You are making quite a scene tonight on here so please can you share the response so we can all know what rights the club has to the 4g pitch for example.

It’s an interesting point. Whose responsibility would it be to sort logistics? Maybe he’s simply used to working in clubs that are in control of their own facilities.

You don't have the gumption to do that. Happy to slag the club off on here but sh!t yourself when actually asked to find out the actual facts from the source. I wait with baited breath.
