How can a player ever hope to improve his game if he cannot take feedback on board? Players like McCartan can improve but not by listening to fans who won’t have a bad word said. Last year was a big wake up call for Shay and others at this club. Sometimes the truth hurts but taking it on board is the only way to improve.

He actually said compared to Accrington his move was massive, he even mentioned the training facilities compared to Accringtons.
I can understand where the lad is coming from but it should not take a full season to acclimatise to his new surroundings be that on the training ground our in front off 18,000 + fans at Valley Parade, he has to show up this season, if its lack of effort on the training pitch these two won't carry passengers it their big chance to show the club and fans just what they can do.

He seems like a nice lad, i wish him success. But football is no place for sentiment, if you ain't producing the goods then on your bike.

Especially this coming season after what went on around December time last year, clean sheet all round, now the lads who did not perform last season for what ever reason have to show up this season.

Totally agree on the first point. However, I would categorise the various comments calling to sell him or stating that L2 is his level to be writing him off not stating facts based on what we saw of him.

With regards to Poleon, I agree that fans seem to have more patience with some players over others. Personally if given the choice I’d get McCarten over Poleon and I suppose it’s because Poleon had more game time to prove himself and failed to do so. I always felt McCarten was on the periphery and we never figured out where to play him. So I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

No idea. Still not sure if he’s a striker, attacking midfielder or something else. Thankfully I don’t need to know, as long as the coaching team do we should be ok.

He 100% isn't a striker. When he played as a stricken under Grayson he was awful.
He's an attacking midfielder if anything but I would sell him.

Based on last season, any comments which mention league 2 being his level would be justified. I've never really got this obsession with giving every player a chance after massively underperforming. If the people in charge had the exact same attitude we'd be left with a very very average playing squad.

As for Poleon, a very poor footballer but 2 experienced managers saw him as a better option than Mcarten and he's achieved more at this level than him, so shouldn't the give the lads a chance brigade get behind him if they firmly believe in giving players encouragement? There's no point writing Poleon off based on underwhelming performances but giving other players a chance despite their underwhelming performances and inability to break into the side. Where's the consistency?

I would play him in a 4-3-3 only. If he was to play alongside Wyke and perhaps Robinson, this could work. But we’d need a very strong midfield and we wouldn’t be able to play with wingers. But seen as we are signing wing-backs, maybe that won’t be a surprise anyway.

In all the games I’ve seen him in, he played well just once. And even then (home v Oxford), it was only the 1st 45mins where he, Wyke and Taylor were unplayable. Has to do so much more, but it depends on what formation Collins wants to play

    Made a change.

It's what Edin wants to play.

True. Look up the definition of feedback. Tell s
Your definition of feedback is prehistoric. It's opinion. Quality feedback is honest but provides insight on what's going wrong and how to improve it. At least your performance reviews are short but sweet

Like I said, I think it’s just a feeling. I (and I assume most fans) will take to some players more than others. For me, Poleon has plenty of chances in the team last season and showed time and time again that his finishing is very poor and that’s a fundamental issue for a striker. If he stays and proves me wrong then fair enough but that’s my take on it.

With McCarten I still don’t feel like I’ve seen enough of him to make a call so that’s the basis of my opinion give him a bit longer to show if he can/can’t do it at L1 or higher.

I'd keep him as a squad player only. What I saw from him last year, he just didn't seem up to it. Doesn't really fit in with our formation, and playing him out of position isn't going to help his game. Perhaps a spell on loan will help his confidence, but at the end of the day he's still got to produce the goods when he's back at Bradford. Having a 250k transfer fee on his back doesn't help much.
Poleon. Well what to say? Started off alright and we were all saying he's decent, but then he went off the boil quite dramatically (as did the rest of the team). His body language isn't right, and because of that (coupled with some awful one on one misses) the fans are on his back, and he seems to have taken his bat home.
Both can leave in my opinion, and we won't miss them.

Prehistoric? You’ve no idea. I’m as honest as they come when it comes to appraisals. Too many of our fans haven’t got a clue when it comes to football. Simple fact is McCartan and others like him get a chance to make it in their careers, at Bradford so far hes done nothing to justify a place in a league 1 side. Now if he comes in this season with a better attitude and more belief he has a chance. If not we get rid, there are dozens of players who will more than happily take his place. Ball is in court, lets see if he wants it.

If only it was possible to read comments from C&B, you’d see my take on Poleon before a ball had been kicked. As I said at the time, fans at some of his other clubs had nicknamed him ‘Autumn’, because he seems to hibernate once the leaves start falling off the trees. It happens every season.

My view of Poleon is that he has decent pace and good movement. Found himself one-on-one plenty of times due to these traits, but his finishing lacked any composure. For it to happen once or twice is disappointing but for it to happen half a dozen times, is unforgivable.

With McCartan, my work colleague (a Stanley fan), said he couldn’t believe they got 6 figures for him, let alone £200k plus. He said the guy never looked fit and was often subbed off in games before the end. He said he only came good after Christmas and his free-kick goals helped him, but still couldn’t believe we paid so much for him.

My own view of him is that he didn’t ever look fit and I’m hoping a full pre-season will help in this aspect. Never got going for usbut did show glimpses that he is a decent player. Just has to be much, much more consistent.

What do you think of Patrick, Sattelmair and Raedar as footballers, who also had limited game time?

Not really sure of the relevance? I have my opinion on McCarten. You brought Poleon into it, I gave my opinion on him. Do we need to go through the entire squad?
