If any of these bods can unearth a John Hendrie, Greg Abbott or Martin Singleton then we will all be happy.

 

Sparks made me laugh on Twitter saying that Adams was brought into sort out longstanding footballing issues within the club. Turnbull was his Vision and his appointment!! What other “long standing issues” have been resolved? Baffling

 

This is good news.

You've forgotten about the £1000 we got for Crankshaw, and his €250 a week wages. That gives us a whole £2000 for our shiny new scouting team to find a new forward, a right winger and a centre back. Easy!

 

In my eyes there are 2 ways of looking at what Sparks has done to date - 1) is definitely of muddled and inconsistent thinking and planning + a bit trigger happy or 2) that he knows a lot needs changing and is at least big enough to admit his first calls are not always the best option. I certainly don't want a CEO who is too stubborn to be adaptive.

I just hope there might be more from him and Adams re the October statement, as some have mentioned the announcement today is hardly ground breaking and should really have already been in place. The commitment, both financial and emotional, of thousands of fans really does deserve better than the bodge job of the past 4 years. Some tangible good news, particularly on the playing front, would be a good start

 

So one man is expected to cover all of England and Wales? Have we not had any person in place doing any scouting previously (I appreciate Turnbull may have been doing a bit).
Surely there should be one person just responsible for the Yorkshire Area? It is big enough and surely would take up all the time of one person to keep an eye on all the teams in the region?

 

I think it’s a bit old fashioned, standing in a field in the freezing cold watching reserve level football. We need to move with the times......

Did this require an announcement? I think it’s common place even for league 2 clubs to have some sort of recruitment system. Why are we announcing it like it’s forward thinking and something to celebrate. Embarrassing state of affairs.
I thought I’d have a look at other league 2 clubs and their scouting network. Seems most clubs have scouts and recruitment analysts in place and a few who have a director of football. I wonder if they announced them like a new signing?

 

Lets be honest, most of us on here expected the "October Announcement" to be a bit more dramatic than a few old geezers scouring the lower leagues for the next Dylan Mottley Henry. I was at least expecting Adams to be appointed as CEO/ DOF and Ticket Office manager, but secretly hoping it was a takeover.

 

I think there are elements of Boris now you come to mention it!

Was a year specified? or just October

 

This is probably what Adams alluded to after the game on Saturday. We’re so far behind with the basics that Sparks tried to address with Turnbull but that hasn’t been enough. We haven’t had a decent scouting network in the building since Parky ran off with the last lot. If we’re to progress successfully we have to get the basics right, hopefully this is the start.

 

Agree. I am not sure what else Adams can sort out footballing wise other than recruitment and the fitness department? If they are classed as long standing, then Sparks appointed both of those and they can’t be classed as long-standing?
Also I am not sure anyone has been here longer than 18 months playing squad wise or coaching staff wise to be classed as long standing?
The only issue is Rupp? Was a strange comment to make on a public site like twitter for me

 

Very positive and smart move

A team of scouts that will increase the scope and reach of our recruitment and I've no problem if everyone they identify is a 'cheapie' as long as they're suitable James Hanson and Nahki Wells were both cheapies and look what happened there

However it's only very positive and smart on paper

Unfortunately our CEO has torn down initiatives almost as quickly as he's instilled them so forgive me if I'm going to have to see if this stands the test of time I don't see any reason why it shouldn't and this should really be a long term improvement where even if one of these three leave they are quickly replaced and we continue to have this structure in place

Might I add if we get into League One in the next few seasons that we should look to expand into the European mainland although no more Brunker's please lol
