    Don't disagree a word.

Just a feeling something not quite right and along with injuries, resonating onto the field.

There is a feel similar to the Hopkin era, but I’m hoping for a different outcome.

You're the one telling us all the way forward is for the club to go down the Director of Football route, moving the goal posts to suit your arguement.
Then you'll be back on here saying you've been telling us all along the scouting system is the way to go.
Scouting system like clubs had in the 60s :joy::joy:

At least Ryans learning by his mistakes, now he just needs to stop making them in the first place.

Very true but if we’d have developed them like we did Stuart McCall, Peter Jackson, it could have been City now playing in the championship instead of permanently in league 2, and us receiving 19 million from Sheffield Utd for McBurnie instead of just the sell on. With that sort of fee we could have bought the ground back and had money to keep us in the championship.

Really daft money spent on transfers higher up the leagues, McBurnie a good example..
Another that doesn't sit right is James from Man u to Leeds.....Man u wanted £30m Leeds paid £25m actual value £2m at the very most....

Don't argue with him, he doesn't see two sides to an argument and will just back up his blinkered view by accusing you of being stuck in the Cuban Missile crisis.

We don't (and didn't) have the right personnel at the club to enable players like McBurnie to develop the way he did - he looked out of his depth playing for us in league one at the time, Swansea had the right structures and environment in place to nurture and develop him. If he'd stayed with us he'd have ended up being released and drifting into non-league rather than making us any money.

Not necessarily so, McBurnie was put in the side too early, another year of development he could have fired us to the championship. No reason to suggest that Swansea had superior coaches, he was just too young when he played for us and had we been patient we would have had a superb striker on our hands. McCall was raw in his early games but patience and giving him time to develop was the key, not let’s snap the hand off as soon as we get an offer which has been the case at City for too long. Stafford Heginbotham turned down Newcastle and Aberdeen who wanted McCall on the cheap,to develop him. He stayed with us for six years and helped us into the 2nd tier and almost into the top tier.

Could argue it either way. Swansea has a PL academy and coaches. McBurnie & McCall are two different beasts, you see at 18 what McCall had. If your timescales are right (ie he left six years after the Newcastle bid) then Heginbotham wasnt at the club as he came back in the late summer of 1983. Pedantic, I know.

At City he'd have got a year older, that's very different to a year's development. He was actually at Swansea for three years before his breakthrough loan spell with Barnsley.

He was past the point where playing in our youth team was doing him any good, and he wasn't ready for the first team. We had nothing in between that would have helped him develop.

EDIT loaned out while he was at us as he couldn’t break through here
