It’s the sort of thing I would have expected Turnbull to have put in place.

Good to see we have experienced scouts now cover the whole of Britain and Ireland.

I am glad Adams has been allowed to bring in his own men, that's how it should be in my opinion.

Do they know of any mediocre out of contract players that can elevate us to the next level?

I was looking at the club's accounts last night for our time back in the PL. I read BFG's Chairman's Report and he referred to identifying and developing the club's young players who would become the future stars of the club. Of course, nothing really happened on that front but what a different club this would have been had past owners progressed with that. It needs somebody to take a longer term view and I'm not confident that Rupp will be any different!

I don't think Rupp has a plan other than to show a return at the end of the financial year, albeit a very small one. Adams seems to the one with the plan and Sparks now goes along with it. Great if he's here for the long haul. But it does show the club up that for the last 10/12 months the apparent plan has been ripped up and started again. Turnbulls appointment has been nothing but a complete waste of time and as an organisation we really need to stick to a plan for longer thaqn a few months.

Good news, at least for Adams!
One of the key sentences in the announcement is "finding the correct players for City according to budget and profiling"
I wonder if that means the player budget reduction will continue despite the large take up of S/T's.
Not expecting rupp to fund us.

Adams has already said the current budget has gone so i dont know what he can achieve in January but there are plenty of players whose contracts finish next summer.

The club are doing well with pay on the gate at the moment, approx 2,000 is good news.
    Where will this money go?

Ryan Sparks, the club’s chief executive officer, added: “Over the years, our football club has unearthed some fantastic talent”

    Amazing news.

Just shows what a shit show we have become when we are rejoicing that we have employed a scout.

Something that fundamentally every bloody team in the country should have anyway

On reading this, it kind of makes me facepalm a bit. "We've now got scouts covering England, Ireland and Scotland". Shouldn't we have had this in place for years? Forget about the interview that DA had with Sparks (and presumably Turnbull), what exactly did Turnbull say in his interview to sell himself as the "Recruitment Manager"? Somehow, seemingly just saying he's going to have a look at YouTube and his former clubs, seems to have got him the job. And we wonder why we're dropping like a stone due to lack of squad depth and the ability to win games? No wonder DA is angry and wants things done his way.

Also underlines my feelings that Ryan loves a fanfare and an opportunity for an announcement, over the actual workings and dirty hands running of a football club.

As pointed out, this is all well and good, but comes months late. We've now put something in place, that cannot be used until January. When most of the available players have already joined new clubs. When we're languishing in mid table or worse. AND....we've heard it all before. Ryan would have been all over that Mark Ellis USA scouting network. He'd have loved it. Look what happened to that. And that fella Archie. Again, trumpets and klaxxons and we're going up as Champions.

And yeah I get it - setting this system up now, means we can identify players and hit the ground running for the next transfer window. But how many times have we heard that before?

I’ve no problem with backing a plan and then if it doesn’t work change it. Nothing worse then blindly following a shit idea because you’re too thick or stubborn to change. However in 10 months the plans have included Stuart’s new contract, T&S and Turnbull. I like what Ryan is trying to do off the field, but it feels like a lack of thought has lead to some decisions, like the promotion talk which whilst great for ST sales has set high expectations that aren’t being met.

It's like what my old Grandma used to say: "Don't buy the Rizla until you've got the gear". Wise words from an old head. Sparks should have been behind the scenes putting all the pieces together for promotion, before announcing that this is the season we're going up. Not the other way around.

Have not been on for a bit but follow the site when I can, nuff to say the usual suspects continue to post the usual comments - lets just say its consistent and in some ways nicely reassuring! ;) Had a half knee replacement operation and removal of some loose bone - recovering but it's slow progress for those who are interested

Was at Woking v Chesterfield last night, grubby wet night. Chesterfield were extremely physical and moody, Rowe only came on for last 15mins and very quiet and Tishimanga was kept under wraps but you could see his talents in his movement Woking played them off the park for the last hour and I would recommend our new scouts keep a watch on young Tahvon Campbell - he is 24 so not a kid and plays across the front line

Apart from the usual issues we have at City hope you are all keeping well

I think having a comprehensive scouting system in place using an analytical assessment process is the way to go. Ashas been said, you would have thought we would have had something in place before this.
My slight concern is the tendency for recruitment to be ‘old acquaintances’. My understanding is that Turnbull had been instrumental in some of the players that were signed pre Adams, were ones which he had at former clubs.
Similarly Songo, Elisa and Threlkeld are all players Adams has worked with before. There is a danger of groups of players with a manager/recruitment team following round clubs.
One of the big issues which perhaps is not covered by analytical data is the personality/attitude of players. Are they going to be a positive asset to the club?
On Adams watch, he has three strikers who have spent considerable periods of their careers, either injured, or coming off the bench.
The balance has to be right. Fresh players with no previous links, are relatively injury free (I accept you cannot predict in some cases), who want to progress their careers with the club or if in the twilight, go out on a ‘high note’, should be high on our list.

I don’t think Sparks would’ve done this had it not been instigated or demanded by Adams. Without Sparks agreement then nothing would have changed. It shows to me that he’s determined to find the right pieces to bring success. It would be more worrying if he went down the same path of of failure that we’ve seen owner the last 4 or 5 years.
