What has surprised me is that we have come back up of the January window without spending any extra money according to DH, in the T&A article about Ball. Those that have left have provided for those that we have signed. Plus he was trying to bring in an extra 2 players, but it didn’t come off. Julian and David deserve some credit for that little miracle, no doubt Rupp is as well.

 

No you can’t blame them, but you can call them spineless tw@ts with absolutely no self respect.

Reeves is the biggest worry for me.

In what way? He'll be being covered by PHI so he won't be out of pocket, us neither. If he's interested in footy in the future he should be doing his coaching badges which im sure the PFA would also support him on. It depends on his frame of mind.

 

Been there, done that. Sometimes you have no choice in the matter, especially when i) your field is a small, specialised one where you cannot just up and move elsewhere; ii) your employer simply eliminates your job by eliminating the funding for it; and iii) rewrites the job's parameters a bit and gives you first refusal on the new job, at half the pay but a bit more work. 50% pay cut, or 100% unemployment with little chance of getting back into your field once you're out. Your call. That is reality.

Please understand football is a different world

 

Ha! I'm retired and too busy for work...and anyways, you know the saying that begins: "If you're going to do owt for nowt..."!

I know football is different, but the concept of making lemonade when life gives you lemons still holds true. These players would be better served by playing, somewhere, anywhere -- even if it means swallowing their pride and dropping down some levels. Alternatively, by their efforts in training, and general behaviour, they can prove to the manager that they are worth spots on the bench and/or starting line-up. At the moment they seem to be doing neither, and remain as huge disappointments.

Nothing wrong with what Hopkins said here, hasnt criticised the individual players, just stated it'll be tough for them to get in the team, but clarified they need to keep training whilst being free to leave. Its laughable to criticise the players for sitting on their contracts, they owe us nothing in that regard and providing they train and dont disrupt team cohesion their doing nothing wrong beyond being a bit crap. It was clear as early as the York pre season game that Josh Wright was a very poor signing, making him captain was astonishing. Was hoping for more from Riley but hasn't worked out for him here at all.

 

and while we're on the captaincy issue, Caddis is clearly head and shoulders above anybody else in terms of leadershipon the pitch - why is O'conner still captain?

 

The captain role is overstated. I've you don't have several players who're prepared to lead by example then you're in trouble. We're a case in point.
